I recently purchased a 2006 UZJ100 and a cop that pulled me over recently pointed out to me that my license plate lights were not working.

Both are out so I am assuming it isn't bulbs. First place to start is to check the fuse. Consulted my owner's manual and found nothing. The closest thing is the 'TAIL 15 A' fuse, which is related to 'Parking lights, tail lights', but the manual does not list license plate lights as being connected to any particular fuse. Searching MUD hasn't turned anything up either.

So I'm wondering which fuse to pull to examine.

Anybody have any experience with this?

Thanks very much for your time.

Yeah I figure it shouldn't be too big of a problem. They didn't even give me a ticket, just looked at my registration and told me I should fix it.

As to pulling the fuse, my initial question concerned which fuse concerns the operation of the license plate light.

The closest thing I could find was a fuse related to 'Parking lights, tail lights' as my owners manual put it. Just pulled this fuse, TAIL 15 A, and it looked fine. I'm just not sure that it covers license plate lights, though. So I'm still not sure which fuse is the right one to pull to check.

Ended up just needing to replace the bulbs. Bulb number is 168. Remove the light assembly by pushing the lens towards the side of the car (to your right on the right lens, to your left on the left lens) and pulling the trailing end of the lens (the left side of the right lens, the right side of the left lens) towards you to remove the clip. Unhook the electrical snap and that will free the assembly from the car. Then remove the bulb casing by turning it counter-clockwise relative to the larger assembly. Then wiggle the bulb out of the bulb assembly, replace and then do all the stuff you did to get everything out and apart in the reverse order.
