Hi All - I noticed there is an unused fuse spot in the fuse block on the battery terminal (assuming for some other model or something). I am installing an aftermarket amp for the stereo and need to wire an 8 gauge wire with a 30 amp fuse. Any reason I couldn't use this spot to wire in the amp?

Sure, I could wire an inline fuse block or something but (1) I want to keep an OEM aesthetic and (2) I come from the motorcycle world and am anal about wiring and hate the look of inline fuses.

Kind of unrelated question. Are you doing the 68 ohm method for your stereo install?

That is exactly what I did when I installed my Nav-Delete/ stereo retrofit. Take care with the torque on the fuse block bolts… don’t want to crack the plastic fuse block.

Installed a 120A fuse in that spot to power the 1300w 5 channel amplifier... #1 AWG MTW marine application tinned copper wire with hy-press copper ring terminal at the fuse block, bullet connector at the new amp mounted under the passenger seat… All wiring in 6/6 nylon convolute split tubing. Labeled the fuse block cover with a p-touch.

Works great. Installation looks OEM.

I wanted to use the OEM fuse block as well for all the reasons stated above. But, I couldnt find a good supply of fuses that fit. They all seemed to be pretty proprietary. What did you use??

Got mine from O’Reilly auto parts… $20 at Toyota.

Not sure about a 30A fuse for that space.

Maybe get a proper high power amplifier and feed it well.
