Fuel tank questions...

Angle of the fuel filler inlet is significantly different.

POSER: Are the early 45 tanks the same as an early 40 tank other than the inlet? Also would you know if there were different tanks for short/long and or LVs?

SHREG: I guess a pic of the inlet would be very helpfull also..

My longbed came with an aftermarket tank...and the only LV I have been close to was Landpimp's LV and my main concern at that moment was to control my drooling !!!

Thanks C

Happy Holidays all

Anyone know what tank this is?

LV tanks are mounted under the body behind the rear axle.

I've only had LPB's and LP's with removable tops, tanks are the same or look it. Can't say about non-removablke top LP's, I'm guessing they are the same???

top pic is an LV
bottom pic is a early 70's 40 series tank.
try this link, last post is of a 40 tank and a 45 tank showing the difference in the necks

Why are you looking for an LV tank for your pickup?

I wasnt..... I did not get an OEM tank with my 45 so I didnt / till now know what one looked like short/long or LV

So that tank (top) is a LV tank??? ....maybe that what was used as my aux tank (also missing)

Used tanks are hard to come by in good shape. You could have a nice replacement fabricated and its a good idea to get it out of the cab... The old tanks tend to crack, rust and leak. The inside of a cab is a bad place for that.
I would look for a unit out of a wrecking yard that would fit under the bed for the auxiliary. The tracker/sidekick tank looks like a nice fit for a 40, maybe it would work for a 45? Or a saddle tank out of an F150 except those stub out on the drivers side...
