Fuel tank interchange fj40

I've got a July 74 fj40 with a roughish tank. I've found an fj40 tank from a 71. Specter doesn't list these as interchangeable.

Does anyone know how compatible they are?

Most of my pollution control went with the stock F motor 12+ years ago.

The filler neck configuration is the only difference..........

If you could score the older neck and hose it would be plug & play.........

Otherwise some creative hose-arie is in order, but doable..........
