I've got an FJ-62 with 158k miles. It only gets driven about 20 miles per week. I try to keep the tank full to avoid moisture buildup but what is the consensus on adding stabil fuel stabilizer to the tank to keep the gas fresh? Figured it couldn't hurt. Suggestions?

Thanks

Pump gas in most states has at least 10% ethenal/alcohol. That is more than enough to absorb any moisture that forms in the tank. John

Won't hurt. If it works in lawn mowers, it'll work in a cruiser, but it's not a dryer. As far as ethanol in gas, it makes the situation worse, not better, because it pulls moisture out of the air, also, when vented, though I don't know if the evap systems are vented enough to make a difference ....

Not the best vid, but it shows what I'm talkin' about:

I add the marine version of the Sta-Bil product to the Cruiser when I know she'll sit for a while; not as big of a deal for the Cruiser but for my old MG that would sit all winter I would definitely use the product. Ethanol is terrible for older rigs - it'll rot out lines, hoses, break down and turn into little pieces that clog carb jets, etc. Fortunately, there is still a lot of demand for non-ethanol fuel around here (mostly due to agriculture demand) so I can still find non-ethanol fuel locally, which is what I will hunt down when I know that the rig is going to sit for several weeks or more.

Our buddy that owns a boat dealership gave us a similar demonstration with the new gas.
He told us the Starbrite Startron is the best treatment out there yet for ethanol problems.
I have been using it ever since in all my gas powered equipment and will use it in the 60 when finished.

I have been told by several small engine mechanics that premium gas has stabilizers in it. Last time was when I took delivery on my new riding mower. Don't know this for a fact, just parroting what I have heard.
