I am original owner of an 8/68 (model year 1969) FJ40. Those of you who own late 60"s and early 70's productions know that Toyota made many changes with parts during the production years and did not necessarily tie them to model year changes. I recently rebuilt my original Kyosan Denki fuel pump. Before tearing it apart, I bought a used Kyosan Denki fuel pump from someone who was parting out an "early 70's" FJ40 with an F engine. This fuel pump had two major differences than mine:
- My 8/68 Kyosan Denki has the replaceable valves. The valves are permanently stamped into the later Kyosan Denki fuel pump.
- The mounting flange (where the two bolts attach to the engine block) on my 8/68 Kyosan Denki is 7mm thick while the later version is 18mm thick (and requires longer mounting bolts).
