I'm trying to fit a Jeep CJ-style fuel filter on my 60. These filters have a pressure bypass and will work as a sort of pressure regulator for my Weber carb. I need to Tee the bypass into my fuel pump return line, but it seems as if the filter outlet is 1/4", while the pump return appears to be 5/16". Is this correct? Has anyone else used one of these filters and what route did you take?
I'm thinking that I can find a Tee fitting that will allow me to hook 1/4" to 5/16", but I just wanted to see what other option may be available to me before I make a hack job of it.

why not just a pressure regulator by itself between the pump and carb?

This is on the advice of Weber Sarge. It is quite a bit cheaper than a regulator and I needed a new filter anyway, lol.

well I'm sure you can round up fittings to make about anything work. The jeep filter/regulator assembly controls pressure down at the low end for a carb setup? (not knowing much about jeeps). Big difference between fuel pressure for carb engines vs fuel injection.

The filter is from '84 and older Jeeps , so carb equipped engine . It doesn't so much control pressure directly other than routing excess pressure as a bleed-off to the return line . I've done the same in the past with Webers equipped with a secondary outlet . I do not recommend trying to drill out and install a secondary fitting into the carb's inlet unless you know what you're doing - it's very easy to destroy the top cover .
