Gotta drop the tank to get to the unit. Seems like the perfect opportunity to have the repair shop add an aux tank ;-)

What did you use to black out your wheels? Paint, powder coat, plast dip ect? How is it holding up? What would you use next time?

I am looking to do the same with my stock wheels.

Plastidip it’s doing fine, I just touch them up every couple of months. Love the look!

Given you were having it towed, was it the sending unit that went bad, or was it the pump? I would've thought if the sending unit went bad the truck would have run, but the gas gauge would have read empty

It read 1/4 tank when it cut out.

Man, I just had the same thing happen! It was sad to see the lc on a flatbed darn it. My mechanic says its the fuel level sending unit, and he has seen this a few times with tundras and sequoias. My wife was taking a whole pile of kids to volleyball practice last night and calls stranded on the side of the road, fuel gauge read just under a quarter of a tank at that point. Cruiser is at 160k. Funny because ours is almost a carbon copy of yours, 2008, ome 2inch lift, 275/70 bfg tako2s, white, love it. have a 96 too!
Ill post with more info on the repair as he digs into it today.
Side note, the tow truck driver said that he has only towed two land cruisers in 5 years, mine being the second, and the first was due to a wheel coming off after tire work was done...
they are indeed very dependable!

I'm very curious what the cost for the repair will be. I just bought an 08 LX with 156k miles, so I'm going to keep an eye out for this issue, the starter and the radiator. The prior owner of mine already took care of the water pump, so the other issues are the only ones I'm concerned about at this point.

Yes, put gas in it, runs fine no problem.
I have OME 2 inch medium lift and the 275/70 's fit perfectly. Definitely improve ride over the old stock set up that had some control arm bushing wear, etc
My mechanic just told me that his older Tacoma with 300k on it just had the same problem but he ran out of gas when the gauge read just under a half...
I'll report on the repair tomorrow hopefully.

Similar issue but on my current sedan infi g37, didn't run out of gas but was lucky to notice it in time to not have the car towed. Got this issue at 60k guess that
