Hi guys, I need some help with the fuel injector impedance. Does anyone knows what happens if I put injectors with a different impedance (High impedance of course)? Could I damage something or they could work?

I know that the impedance on the stock fuel injectors on the 1FZ-FE engine is 13.4 ohms

Thanks in advance

there are two types of injectors. we have saturated ones which have an Ohm reading higher than 10.0. The other style is peak and hold which have an ohm reading less than 5.0. If you want to run the peak and hold type you need to wire in a 10 Ohm resistor to make up the difference.

If you are talking about running an injector of a slightly higher impedance it would still be a saturated style and should work fine.

Ok, so if I put 6 injectors that their impedance is 13.8ohms I shouldn't have any problem nor damage something?

One more thing Rick, I don't remember where, but I read that you were asking for the 23250-74160 fuel injectors. Did you get to find them?

Thanks

Nope, I wasn't able to find them. On ebay-uk is a guy selling a set of 4 (he's asking like $300) and on ebay-au is an other guy selling an other set of 4 (he's asking like $100)

I'm thinking of getting 6 Denso 195500-2010 (From a Mazda RX7 N/A from 89-91). The are 460cc/min and 13.8ohms (Found them at $160 for the 6), but I still not sure

I have a set of those. I bought them and then thought better about using them as they have a pintle nozzle.

While it's less prone to clogging, I'm not sure the pattern in what our 24v motors would like. Our disc injectors looks to spray a mist down each valve runner.

I'm sure I need more fuel at high speeds...

I'm in Venezuela, I have tried every mod to fight the overheating but I'm still suffering it (Blue fan clutch mod, changing the TRD fan for the 16361-61020 found on the FJ62, removing the two catalytic converters - I hate this mod, but mine were too obstructed and the price here to change them is absurd and we don't have the second O2 sensor).

I'm about 100% sure that the overheating is because the engine is not getting enough fuel at high speeds/RPMs

A lot of people here are recommending me to ad a 7th injector but I think it's better to ad 6 bigger injectors than a 7th

One thing to consider is that I added an external radiator for the transmission since the OEM cooler in my FZJ80 is inside the engine radiator

I hate the S/C at this moment because I'm suffering the overheating... I don't know what else to do

Howdy! Have you searched around the 80's board for cooling issues? There have been quite a few discussions on it. I just bought my rig a few months ago, but I did a few things to it due to the extreme heat down here. It has been 114-116 the last few days. Look at my sig line for my setup details. I have run uphill in the mountains in 95 to 105 heat at 65 to 80 mph with the highest temp of 204 on my scan gauge. My EGTs run around 1200-1300. I usually don't let it downshift until it gets down to below 2200 rpm, which is pretty rare. You might try swapping out the fan clutch oil to a higher grade. I think stock is either 4000 or 7000. Lots of folks around here have gone to 10000 or 14000 with noticeable improvements. I think I am the first to go to 24000. I don't know of anyone that has tried straight 30000 yet, which is the highest oil I know of. I go rock crawling and trailer pulling on the same day when I get a chance to get out of town, so I wanted to go a big step beyond what others had already tested. So far I am very happy with it. I still want to go thru my injectors and play with my timing to see if I can reduce the EGTs. John

Well, you just can't slap in bigger injectors by them selves. The ECU won't know what to do with them and will see the extra fuel as a problem and throw an error code.

Realistically you need to install a wide band sensor and first confirm that you have a fueling issues before making changes that you might regret later.

I changed the fan clutch oil (Added the 10000) and it did improved but it's still suffering the overheating, maybe I'll try a higher grade.

I was thinking of adding a piggyback (But still don't know which one) if I change the 6 injectors (And still don't know which injectors thought the best ones for the 1FZ-FE I've found on the web are the 23250-74160 that I can't find on the US market, so I'm thinking of getting the 195500-2010 and the piggyback)

Rick, do you know if the 195500-2010 are going to fit or I'll have to do any mods?
