Late yesterday coming down toward Springville UT from a long day in Arches and I get a flashing CEL, running rough so I limp to Orem to get to the closest Stealership. I'm traveling between homes in a new to me 99 TLC with 160 on the clock pulling a UHaul 8x5 trailer. I have tools at both homes and in the 40 but not the 100.

I was first in line at Toyota and was hoping for a coil pack, but found out that the clip in the #6 fuel injector was broken so nothing could hold the wire in place and it had slid far enough off to run poorly and trip the CEL. Could try using an electrical tie strap to hold it in place but the truck is headed to my second home and tougher duty so I am sinking my teeth into a new injector. Bargain purchase at $600.

Is this a common problem? Couldn't find much searching forum, maybe I used the wrong key words. Just hanging out in the Hampton waiting for an injector from SLC.

$600 for a single injector? With or without the vaseline?

Dry and with a running start

First one I've heard of, maybe something hit it?

I'm not really sure how it would happen unless the PO pulled on it real hard without depressing the release clip. Wish I had shot a pic for all to see, will get the old injector and post up a crappy phone pic. It's the release tab on the bottom of the injector fitting that's busted off. Guess the vibration of driving finally vibrated the wire connector loose.

Too bad you didn't make it to SLC, we could have hung out at the dealership together. My truck's in today for what was a mystery CEL. Finally threw the code a block from the dealership, coil pack. At that point I just dropped it off, sure it will cost twice as much as just the part.

Sorry to hear about your truck but would have welcomed meeting a regular in the 100 section. I'm a 100 newb and just haven't connected to a lot of 100 owners in Austin yet. Still
Trying to digest some of the FAQ in the section and just learn the truck.

Hoping to be on road by 2:00 today and need to make Island Park ID with a couple stops on the way.

Here are the culprits.

And a little closer

Two new injectors and down the road I went, problem solved. Time will let my wallet recover.
