OK... this is just for an information and for opinions... :

Just for the fun, I ask at my local toyota dealer the price of a fuel injection pump far a 3B engine : (22100-58032) 2980.00 CDN $:eek:

I know a guy in a diesel shop who tell me (when he rebuilt my injectors) he have one (used but in good shape) for about 250 CDN$.

So, what is the life of a fuel injection pump ? Is it a good thing to buy the other one just in case of...? Buy it and leave in a box and use it when the other one broke ?

Some one already have BIG problem with there injection pump ? enough problem to buy a new one ? what is the price for rebuilt a injection pump ?

I don't heve this problem by now... but if that hapen to me... i think I will be happy to own another injection pump ?

And you ?

Any opinion on that ?

It is my understanding that that pump will still be squeezing out juice long after we all are dead.

They are engineered to last a LONG LONG time (with decent care). Don't know if I would spend the $$ on a spare... but does seem tempting.

Look forward to hearing what those in the know say!

The diesel guy that does my injectors back in Canada says that the inline pumps rarely die ot give problems. I've got a spare but only because it was on a trashed engine (cracked block due to an accident) that I bought. I haven't bothered to rebuild it because of the unlikely possibility of needing it.
If you have a rotary pump it might be a different story. I just had a guy from Germany by here who had problems with his rotary pump with less than 200,000kM on the engine.

A lot of the rotary 1HZ pumps die from the low sulpher content of Australian diesel.
Thats probably why the guy in Germany pump failed .
Thats about all some are lasting in oz.
Some oz owners who have been able to prove they used one fuel only have got out of court settlements to cover pump wear.

If you see a good pump for sale it doesnt hurt to have a spare.
The diesel shop I got to says they should be removed and checked every 4 years.
