OK here it is, the complete diesel 60 project minus the mechanic. Start with a BJ60 (left hand drive) and transplant in the 13B-T motor, install the lift springs, put on some 33”s and you have a sweet 4 wheeler/expedition rig that gets 22 to 24 MPH! I really didn’t want to have resort to selling it but with another pending move and a lack of the most critical resource - time to work on it, something has to go.
The Truck:
1983 BJ60 (Canadian model)
3B Diesel engine (already pulled and on an engine stand)
H55 Trans (yes the much sought after 5 spd.)/ Split Case TC
PS, PB, No A/C
Stock rims, stock size tires
12V electrical system – yes this is a 12V not a 24V system
Clear AZ Title

History (as it was related to me by a reliable source):
A gentleman bought this truck in Canada and soon after moved to New Hampshire. He then retired to Tucson where the truck has been for 20+ years. It has long since dried out from its northern life and has very little effects of northern winter driving. The truck had been well cared for mechanically before the cylinder head cracked (common for very high mileage 3B’s). It had 493K kilometers (almost 300K mi.) before that happened. The truck would still crank when I bought. It does not appear to have been abused or even wheeled hard, country road driving at worst.

Body is a little rough. It has dents and dings, a few very small rust holes over the rear fender. All the glass is good. The interior is not too bad. Driver’s seat is well worn. The dash pad is in fair condition. It needs a new front carpet and new headliner. Rear carpet and rear seat are fairly decent. I wouldn’t look to restore this truck but it would make a great expedition or trail truck.

The motor and bits:
13B-T Motor with 118K miles on it, take out motor from Japan imported by Japan 4x4. Direct bolt in to the BJ60 as it shares the same footprint as the 3B.
Freshly resurfaced 13BT flywheel
3B flywheel
13BT flexplate (came on the motor)
New 13BT clutch kit from SOR – clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, alignment tool
Pictures of the engine bay prior, during, after removal for reference and routings
3B Motor pulled from truck. In tact with essential items still on it, EDIC motor, injection pump, injectors, etc.
12V Starter
24V Starter
12V Alternator
24V Alternator
13BT bell housing
3B bell housing
A/C accessories off of FJ60 – condenser, compressor (12V), some of the cooling lines (needs interior parts – evaporator, ducts, etc.)
4” Lift springs with boomerang shackles – may sell separately or part of the package

Needs:
Motor installation
12VDC VSV - I have the part number, some other common Toyota VSV’s will work too
If you need the glow screen system for cold starting (highly unlikely here in Phoenix) you’d need to wire that
Run a return line to the gas tank for the 13BT injection pump
Connect exhaust - some on the Mud diesel forum recommend going to a 2 ½ in exhaust but its all straight pipe with no muffler needed.
Re-assembly of grill, cross member, hood, etc. – I have every nut and bolt taken off the truck bagged and tagged with labels of where it goes.
Some cosmetic work depending on how nice you want the truck. Likely a right front fender and rear hatch frame.

The price:
I figured that I currently have conservatively $8500 into this project. Sadly, and I’m sure regretfully I’m willing to let it go for $6750 for a fellow club member. It’s all here in one place for one stop shopping. All the big stuff has been shipped so there are not much more in the way of money that needs to be put into this project. The usable 3B parts could be parted out for $500 or more (starters, EDIC motors, rebuild able injection pumps bring big buck from the Canadians) or you could buy a new cylinder head and rebuild it yourself. I’ve probably forgot a few details so feel free to PM me and I’ll shoot you my cell so you can hit me with questions or come by to see for yourself (located in the NW Valley).

Price SOLD!

Bump for the weekend. I have about a 3 week window before I have to start packing everything up for yet another move.

New price for this weekend's bump - SOLD- "What a bargain!"

I know that seems like a lot of money for a project but when you break it down - not so much.
13BT/H55F/Splitcase TC packages go for $5500-$6500 alone. This is a low mileage Japan take out motor with the High Altitude compensator which is more rare for these engines.

New SOR Clutch kit and resurfaced flywheel - $450

4" lift springs with the boomerang shackles are a deal at $400

The take out 3b motor and all the extra parts are conservatively worth $600 to 800 to part out (or rebuild the 3B for the next project).

The BJ60 is solid, all the glass is good, unique Canadian issue roof rack, 12V system, and best of all it's not a RHD diesel and not a rusted out Canadian truck (no offense to our northern neighbors).

Get a great project and save me from having to move it all at the same time. Thanks for looking.
Cheers,
Norm

$6750 is a steal for this truck with a 13BT ...
damn market right now sucks

best of luck in the sale.

Thanks for the validation Crushers. Economy is improving, but I guess not that much yet.

One last bump before my move this weekend. If I have to move every thing then it'll be off the market and queued up for progress this winter.

PM Sent.

I do still have it, complete, as described at the time of the original post. It is waiting patiently for that window of time when I can get back to it. But if someone was really interested, I could probably entertain the thought of selling again.
