Spent an hr searching and came up empty. The heating elements at the bottom portion of the windshield that are supposed to heat the wipes (de-ice them) how hot do yours get. I can remember on my 4-runner they were scorching and now with the Land Cruiser they don't even feel luke warm (assholes at safe lite changed the glass, non OEM glass but has the heating elements down low.) The light indicator on the nav screen turns orange like its on so im guessing its not a fuse. How hot should it be?

Good question, I have never felt mine, but they did start melting the ice off the wipers 5 mins after I turned them on. This was in 10degF.

I will try and feel them out next time I use them.

I recently tried to thaw an inch of ice and a few inches of snow in the mountains. Did not work very well but I am unsure I understood the procedure. I gather that there are embedded electric elements at the bottom of the front windscreen. I had the icon lit on the Climate page of the central screen to no effect. Ultimately I chipped it by hand and then found the air flow to the front windscreen (bottom) is marginal (but loud). Perhaps the design depends on the elements to take care of the lowest portion of the screen. I don't see heating elements unless they are below the dash level. I will look again. ---- I did look. They are clearly visible from the OUTSIDE but not the inside. And mine were heating when I tested them. But it is 50 degrees instead of 8 degrees with high wind. They time out at 15 minutes.

How do i activate them? I cant find this option in the manual. Do they activate with the defroster? I have the "climatronic" system where most of the climate controls are on the touch screen.

Yes in the touch screen with the climate displayed it's the icon on the lower right hand corner.

In my case I push Climate to bring up the climate screen and then there is a soft button with a icon indicating that it is the wiper heater in the bottom center. It toggles on or off.

Bringing this thread back up. I only think of this topic once the weather gets colder and then forget to post up about it. Haven't been a fan of mine. And have been questioning whether they worked or not. Was thinking maybe loose wire, blown fuse, something along those lines. But today I remembered to check the temp of the glass after a 15 minute drive where I had turned them on at the beginning.

The glass inside the vehicle is cool to the touch, feels like the same temp at the bottom of the windshield (where the heater should be) as at the top of the windshield.

Went outside and felt the glass and right at the very bottom where the glass goes under the trim and molding, it was definitely warm. But the problem is, that warm section is about and inch to two inches lower than where the wiper sits. So that isn't going to do much good.

Yes, they don't seem to do jack schiit. I too wondered if they were even working. The irony is the manual has a warning list for "burns" from the element and not to touch when it is on. Ah yes, the Japanese think of everything. Too bad it doesn't actually get hot!
