I was looking for some DIY info on replacing the front wheel bearings on my 2010 LX; any help would be appreciated!

I picked up the bearings, o ring, and the 39mm socket so far...

That's a beefy brontosaurus of a bearing.

Never had to change one. Curious what caused yours to go? And what were the symptoms of needing it replaced?

Knowing that the 200-series shares a lot of design similarities with the Tundra, this may help:

I have only owned the rig for about one year, and it has always has had an odd noise/rumble at 2000 rpm.. This was my next item on my list of possible reasons for the issue. 135k

Where did you get that part? OEM or aftermarket? Koyo makes a really good bearing.

I think I remember cruiser outfitters mentioning having to change quite a few. They are somewhere on my list of stuff to check into soon.

I took the easy way out and just bought new hubs. I don't have a press, and doing the hubs is similar I. Effort to a brake rotor, maybe easier. Hubs were like $70 each iirc.

Will I need to have the bearings pressed into the housing?

You will need your wheel hub pressed into your bearing. We offer them pre assembled @ Cruiser Outfitters fwiw.

We change them every 800-1200 miles on the Canguro race 200 and we are starting to see them need replacement more and more on high mileage 200's. We offer the loose bearings or complete assembled hub/bearing units @ Cruiser Outfitters

Could you send me a link to your complete assembled hub and bearing?

I dont see them on the old site (roughly 1/3 of actual inventory) and definitely not on the new site yet (less than 10% of actual inventory) :D. I'll try and get them added this next week, in the meantime call/email :D

It looks like Toyota sell the bearing assembly and hubs separately. Most of the Tundra videos show them installing a complete aftermarket assembly. Is there an option to buy the whole assembly from Toyota to avoid needing a press?

Yes, just buy a new hub, it should include the bearing. Just verify with parts desk when ordering.

Just called Toyota (Bosch Toyota South) and they said they are sold separately :frown:. Do you know the part number or where you ordered it from?

They are in fact sold as separate parts from any of the top shelf suppliers, OE Toyota, Koyo, NOK, etc. Companies (like Cruiser Outfitters :D) offer them as assembled units.

I’d recommend a better option Since one is available from @cruiseroutfit I put those bearings in when I was much less learned about replacement parts. However, they are still working fine.

What size are the four retaining bolts so I can have a torque wrench adapter on hand?

I think 17mm . . . But not absolutely sure. It’s been a couple years. I had a longer closed end wrench with bumped out ends that ended up fitting in there
