This rebuilt kit is for 98-07 100 series Landcruiser/ LX470. Since Toyota is not offering the ball joint alone for the upper and lower control arm and the only way it to replace with brand new arms which cost an arm and a leg. Or one can buy spicer ( 555 ) or other brand lower ball joints, then go with unknown quality ebay upper ball joint for replacement.

So what I have in mind is that I can offer a rebuilt kit for both upper and lower control arms if there is enough interest. The kit will consists of all new bushings ( total 8 bushings, 2 for each control arms ). Bushing is Genuine Toyota bushing, and both upper and lower ball joint is Genuine SANKEI 555 ( Made in Japan ).

The kit is $550 which includes the following parts:
4 upper control arm bushings ( Genuine Toyota )
4 lower control arm bushings ( Genuine Toyota )
2 upper ball joints ( SANKEI 555 made in Japan )
2 lower ball joints ( SANKEI 555 made in Japan )
8 complete stabilizer bushings ( Genuine Toyota )

Bushing alone from Toyota is $483.50
Upper and lower control arms sets is $1645.56 from Toyota

Let me know what you all think, feedback is welcome, I can also offer the rear upper and lower control arm with the kit with great discount as well. I import all parts myself so I can have better pricing control and offer great discount. ;)

Just out of curiosity, how long do these components typically last on a street-driven LandCruiser?

I'm at ~ 130,000 miles currently (no off-road mileage)...

I have a 20-ton press in my shop, that should get the job done pressing out and old and pressing in the new correct?

Thanks!

Subscribed.

I'm at 167k and have had a squeak in the front for the past 30k, mostly under articulation, etc. I've been hitting them with grease, but when faced with possible ball joint failure consequences, I'm going to bite the bullet this year.

Good idea - I just replaced all 4 ball joints and 8 bushings, would have been awesome to order a kit with researched quality.
GregLCA - I used a 20 ton press and it worked easily. Get a diablo blade for your sawsall to help with the lca frame bushing, that one's a b!tch. All else is super straight forward.
Not sure how long they usually last, but mine were way past due. I believe all original at 270k miles or so. All manners of squeaks and clunks and loose feeling - all gone.

Thanks for the info!

I'm already planning to do a complete set of OEM shocks to freshen things up in the ride quality dept. I've seen some posts that indicate the swaybar bushings are another common wear item and generally makes a noticeable difference....???

As you can probably tell.. I'm just working on a shopping list for the "low hanging fruit" type service items that will make the truck feel as new as possible for the smallest capital investment. :)

GregLCA, This is a quite straight forward job except the lca control arm bushing like jcrandall mentioned. 20 tons press is more than enough, you should be good. The swaybar bushing is a common wear items for sure. I can put that in the kit as well. =)

Yep - exactly my strategy - the sway bar bushings are no big deal either, even for a hack like me. Ranma - I should have put these off for 6 months and bought your UCA/LCA/Sway bar refurb kit.

And before anyone else says it, get an alignment because your truck will be whatever the opposite of aligned is when you're done.

I'd be interested in a kit...

Update with sway bar bushing in the kit.

Just an idea, but you may want to make parts individually available. As an example, I don't run a front ASB so don't need those, I'm running aftermarket upper arms and have a set of lower bushings on the shelf if I need them. So in the next few years I may need lower BJs but that's it.

Just my 2c with so many combinations and needs, kits can get excessive. I would offer smaller kits, maybe an upper kit, a lower kit, and an ASB kit.. or just individual parts.

I wouldn't need the stabilizer bushings... I replaced those recently.

No worry, I will be offering more goodies for 100 series cruiser. =) Next thing I will be offering are the serpentine belt tensioner with belt combo, ignition bracket assembly, possibly tie rod ends set as well. ;)

Thanks for the suggestion. Yes I will be offering the ball joints separately without the bushings as well. :)

I'm also interested in a kit....and if there are any other bushings you can include (such as steering rack bushings), I'm interested in those as well. I need to replace all bushings on the truck. :)
