Among a long list of other items, I started the install of the 2.2m front runner.

1. How does everyone that had a factory rack handle the gaps at the front and rear? Below is a picture for reference. I'm thinking just trim the stock rack rubber mounts?

2. Did anyone else have issues with the middle bolts? Best way to fix a stripped nut in the channel? I fought like heck to get one side, and on the passenger side I stripped a nut... I think some aluminum shavings got in there from the variance in the rack rail and factory hole. Seems like a fit and finish issue, but I'll blame on Tony Toyota.

Also, a sneak preview... Got the expedition rails from front runner... Haven't seen these on any 100s, but stay tuned...

I left the gap just as you see it in that picture. Mine had been that way for a year or so anyway after I removed my factory rack. It doesn't hurt anything.

I almost bought those expedition rails, they look sweet. Looking forward to seeing those in person in co.

Sent from my iPhone using IH8MUD, and hopefully approved by the NSA.

Is there a chance that those rails are mounted backwards? Mine are the same way and the front mount is about to come out the front when connected to the second slat. Something isn't right...

I think it has more to do with where its positioned on the truck - especially if you're keeping the spoiler on. If you back it up some, it would likely be fine.

Mine are going strong after 1 year, 20,000 miles, and counless lbs hauled on top.

Are your tracks mounted further forward? I don't remember having an option to mount it any differently (bolt holes wouldn't line up except in this position).

The wind deflector on the rear hatch contacts the rack when fully opened so I can't slide the rack any further back.

I've lived with the gaps for a couple of years. Mr Toyota sells the plastic filler for 85 bucks as I remember. Not worth it to fill 6 inches of gap. How about someone buy a set and we split it up?
