Dang.. why don't you take some of the $$$ you saved on the brake job and buy some more. They're only like a dollar a piece :flipoff2:

Uhhhhh Rookie, this is 2004. They are Native Americans nowadays.

This is going to sound a little nostalgic but it gives me great pleasure when I see guys like Brent, Riley, Junk, Simon, myself, Jim Phillips and many others that have been regulars here (SOR prior) and have returned to doing some of our own vehicle maintenance. A "win" like this demonstrates the collective knowledge of this fine group and of the internet as a whole. We've gained the confidence that we can diagnose an issue, read the FSM, acquire the correct parts at a reasonable price (thanks Dan!) and can R&R these vehicles on our own.

You've got to admit that IH8MUD is a fun place to hang for an hour or so every day.

You got that right! When I first started in this wonderful little community I had never done anything to my cruiser. I've now changed both sets of brakes, a few electrical switches gone bad, silly little hazard light bulbs, and O2 sensors. I've also been able to diagnose engine codes to be able to talk more intelligently with service advisors at the dealer and I know that's saved me at least one EGR valve charge. Invaluable information and friends here.

Thanks Woody! Got reemployed and immediately got my silver star.
For those of you that haven't yet done so - $20 ain't a whole lot.

It's paid for itself a hundred fold already in actual $$$, but more importantly the intangible of the contacts and 'internet' friendships developed in this community.

Rookie - BTW - the 'Native Americans' you refer to no longer are allowed to 'beat the hell out of you. They are only allowed to place an arrow necklace around your neck. When I first observed this 'new tap-out' procedure when I reaffirmed my membership in OA I asked why things had changed since my time in OA. Story I was told was the tap out ceremomy was getting so 'violent' that some poor kid actually got his collarbone broken during the tapout. Yikes!

Wow, that's to bad.

Unfortunately the social stigmatism associated with scotts as a young teenager tends to push a lot of kids away from it. There are a lot of great people and influences in that orginization. Cudos to you and your boys for being a part of it.

Sorry for the chit-chat.
