Front Inner Fender Mod for 315's

For those installing 315/75R16 tires or at least GY MT/R in this size you will need to do a couple quick and easy mods to the front inner fender area.

Pic 1: Shows the plastic inner fender skirt area to be trimmed and the body seams that need to be 'massaged' 90 degrees.

Pic 2: Trim the 'bubble' portion of the plastic inner fender skirt to provide adequate clearance.

Pic 3: Bend the painted body seam over 90 degrees with an adjustable wrench and then you'll need a BFH to coerce the rest of the way...or out of the way!

Make sure you keep it clean behind that plastic liner once in a while, you get all sorts of interesting stuff behind there. hehehe

Goodday there, what have you done if anything about the 315's rubbing against the chassis when at full lock. I probably haven't had my vehicle articulate enough to touch the rubber bumps. I made some new flaps with that section cut out and needed to slightly reshape the bracket so as to keep the flap away from the tyre.

Walter, using wheel spacers/adapters seems to eliminate any rubbing on the chassis (frame) but at the same time introduce more rubbing on the fender and firewall. You can also adjust your turn stops to reduce that chassis rub (at the sacrifice of less turning radius).

Post pics of your modified flaps.

Hi Hoser,
Yes spacers could do the trick, however illegal for road use in Oz, would also help clearance between tyre and upper wishbone which is minimal with 35's. Other downside is that would need to do the mod to inner fender which would definitely touch once wheel is spaced out :-(

Sorry for the delay, just took a couple of photos of the mudflaps I made. The material is a flexible plastic which is very durable, they use this to make mud flaps for rally cars etc. It is very strong and will bend the metal it is attached to well before it breaks at the bolt holes.

View attachment 90036Hi Chris, here are a couple from further away, tell the truth they are hard to notice and do a good job. You can also see the ones I made for the rear, since changing to these I haven't broken a flap. I must have torn off at least 3 or 4 before changing. The car has the normal road tyres in the photos.

Not Walter, but if you read the sticker on the corner of the bumper you'll see it reads "Kaymar".
