Front Diff. Axle Seals, Left and Right different P/N's?? (1 Viewer)

At toyomotorparts.com they list different p/n's for the left and right front diff seals. One is $7 and change and the other is $12 and change. Anyone know if there is really a difference? Just wondering if I have to have both in my spare parts kit or if they are really interchangeable in a pinch.....

Yes, those are the numbers.
What crush washers? Do you mean for the pinion?

Front and rear axle fill and drain plugs use the same gasket (crush washer). Part number 12157-10010. Check you can remove the fill plug before you lose oil through replacing the diff seals.

I'm not talking about the drain/fill plug washers. I'm talking about the axle seals. If I tear one up pulling out the axle (which I did last time) I want to have one on hand to replace it.

Unless you keep the side you are working on at least 4” higher then it's possible to lose diff oil after you pull the axle. It is probably a good idea to check the oil level after replacing the seals.
If this is an emergency repair then try to minimize oil loss when replacing the seal. The diff holds 1.8 US quarts so if oil loss is low you should still be good to go.
The drain/fill plug washers are "one time use". You can probably reuse the washer on the fill plug. However, they are relatively cheap and worth having in your spares kit. If your diff levels haven't been checked for some time then expect the fill/drain plugs to be difficult to remove.

Looks like outer dimension is different so you will need both seals.
