Hey folks,

UK LC80 owner checking-in.

I'm rebuilding/replacing the front and rear actuators and have unfortunately ended up with a broken front actuator owing to material wear and tear - the thing fell apart in my hands.

I'm looking for an affordable replacement and stumbled across this part: 41450-35031. I can source this locally in the UK at a pretty decent price (c. $100) vs. the next best alternative (Chinese/UAE non-OEMs) and the next best after that - an OEM part at c.$700.

My question is: These parts look similar enough to me, having held the original 41450-60060, but experience tells me just because they look similar doesn't mean they're interchangeable. Anyone got any insight/experience with the two parts? the -35031 is labelled as an FJ Cruiser diff actuator.

Many thanks for all your help in advance. No desktop search has yielded me any results so far.

AISIN is the OEM for this and many other parts. 41450-60060 is AISIN part number SAT-002 and is roughly half the price of the exact same unit that comes in a red and white box.

Thanks for that mate, I wasn't aware AISIN is the OEM. A short search didn't yield better results on pricing than what I've got (41450-35031), but I will feed back on whether the part I got is a correct fit. I did manage to get it for £100 ($135) and as I said, it looks exactly like the OEM one and the SAT-002 you quote.

Appreciate your input!

Quick update for anyone following along: the replacement actuator does work, but it wasn’t a straight drop-in fit. A few adaptations were needed to get everything installed properly:

  • The Good: The actuator itself functions as intended once fitted. No issues with performance.
  • The Bad: A couple of adjustments were necessary:
    1. I had to remove the black protective housing - otherwise, the unit simply wouldn’t fit in place.
    2. The cable holder also had to go for clearance reasons.
    3. The connector on the replacement part doesn’t match the OEM harness connector, so I rewired the new actuator into the connector from the old unit.
  • The Ugly: Honestly, nothing ugly here - just some extra tinkering required.

Hopefully this helps the next person attempting the swap.

Attaching some pictures for reference:

Picture 1: Connectors swap out - fairly easy though be on the lookout for plastic pins holding down the wires to the connector. I used superglue to hold the wires in place into the OEM connector.

Picture 2: Diff actuator protective housing that had to be removed for a good fit - likewise with the cable connector mount.

Picture 4: Replacement diff actuator connector - a swap out was the best thing to do, adapting to the OEM female connector would have been a PITA
