I plan to get my front brake pads replaced and rotors turned at my independent mechanic. Unless I provide OEM parts, he will use aftermarket just to get the job done same day.

I like to go OEM whenever possible, so I usually order all the parts online beforehand so I can bring them with me when the work is done. Also, it saves a few $$ as well.

The rotors have enough meat left to turn them down, so I'm ordering the pads. Other than pads, are there any other misc parts I should order at the same time?

Also, with the rotors off, can the bearings be repacked with grease, or is it more involved than that?

If the bearings haven't been repacked now would be a good time to do so. If you are doing pads and not sure about the retainer clips, indicators, etc. I would order those as well. Pick up the cheap stuff at a local dealer and you'll be able to return if your current parts are in good shape.

^this, sorry was posting at the same time.... I'd recommend. All new pads, shims, retainer, etc. whoever owned mine before likely only did pads and I have some brake rattle.

It's usually a good time to repack the front wheel bearings when you do the front brake job. If not, they'll normally charge you a little extra to turn the rotors on the vehicle. If they don't have a portable brake lathe, then they will have to remove the rotors anyhow and it would be a really good time to do the bearing repack.

I'd add to that to do the spindle bearings along with the wheel bearings as long as your mechanic is in there.

I'm not sure what your truck looks like, but now might be a good time to put that ARB locker in the front. And regear. And lift it. And add sliders. And 35s. And... :) :)

Just grab the local NAPA or Autozone brake kit which will include the shims and springs.
