I’m replacing this front seal on an 01’ lx470 and curious how deep it should be installed? I’ve looked in the fsm and no info. The shaft does not have a shoulder to where the seal will stop so it can sink all the way into the bearing edge and will leave about 1/4” exposed on the outer edge of the shaft. Or the other option is In the past I’ve always installed this seal to fit just inside the housing and that would leave about 1/4” between the seal and the bearing edge. Just curious what others have done?

Thanks,
Jason

I believe the tool that Cruiser Patch sells installs both seals to where the flat face of the seal will be flush with the front of the tube.

Start HERE and read down. I detailed my experience with it
