I tightened the bars on my '98 to bring the front end up a bit. Only a small amount, since then the front axle boots seem to tear about every two years. No axle noise or skip/pop sounds at all when turning.
Related to tightening the bars?
Solution? Thanks.

OEM CVs and new boots and axles each time.

Do you use the truck on lots of hard off-road, dirt roads, or where there are sticks and branches? A stick facing the wrong way can wreck lots of stuff
About 120k of on road stock driving and no torn boots or cv issues yet for me between two different 100 series.

Along with the other questions above id also be curious how lifted your front end is
Did you measure how far up you went compared to stock ?

A shop did it for me. Pretty much brought the front end up to level or just under. I’m getting the impression that it must be the lack of diff drop. They said all was “within spec.”

Mine seeps at the clamp but doesn’t tear, unless you’re using Autozone axles, oem boots shouldn’t tear that easily. I use word clamps to stop the seepage, didn’t notice any vibrations with the worm clamps from mccarr or something

Is the shop telling you they are torn due to grease leaking or can you see the tear? It could be the inner (small) clamps need to be replaced with screw clamps. Known issue but far from replacing both axles.

Well… there’s the inner and outer. I’m assuming they replaced the axle parts because they had to have everything apart anyway.
But, I’ll be paying more attn to this next time.
And prob doing the diff drop and using better clamps.

Most shops when they do an inspection see CV grease, and automatically say "CV axles need to be replaced". All of these boots weep from the smaller clamp especially. It doesn't mean the axle is ruined. You can replace the clamps without removing anything, but a shop probably will not do it.
