Front and rear FJ Cruiser differential/rear end swap

I have 4.30 tacoma 4 cylinder front diff I mine. I removed the ADD tube and actuator. Reuse the side tube from original GX front tube.there is some additional sensor in ADD front diff that is not used anyway on GX.

You can keep the ADD but there is a chance it would hit the oil pan. A new engine mount might be enough or need small spacer to raise the engine a bit. The wiring seems to be similar to rear locker actuator. Tacoma and 4Runner ADD are not that reliable and can leave you stranded in 2WD.

I would use it as a core when you regear.
What year front diffs will work? Looks like the 4.30 front diff can be picked up for <$500. I want to do a 4.30 swap at some point but was wanting to just get a prebuilt 3rd member and clamshell from ECGS with e-lockers and 4.30s....which costs like $4K for both. Seems like this would be a cheaper immediate swap to get a ECGS 4.30 rear 3rd member with an elocker, a used Tacoma 4.30 front clamshell, sell my 3.73 front clamshell, then add a front locker later on if I decide it's actually needed.

05+ for compatible Tacoma clamshell, to get 4.30 you need a 3rd gen which is 16+.

Thanks. Looks like those are ~$700 and my 3.73 clamshell is only worth $200, so it's a $500 upgrade and at that point pretty close to a rebuilt ECGS front diff without a locker. I may try to find one locally though as opposed to online.

It's worth $200 if you can find a buyer. I've had two sitting on my shelf for close to two years that I couldn't even get $100 each for.

Mine came from 16 3rd gen 4 cylinder tacoma.
The rear 3rd gen tacoma non TRD off road /Pro would be bolt on to the rear of GX470, as they still use 8" diff too. No luck with 8.2 swap as there is no 4.30 gear available for 8.2 diff.

Thanks. It seems like this could be a good upgrade if I can find a wrecked 3rd gen 4-banger Tacoma locally (which might be possible) and get the diffs for a reasonable price. If not I'll just stick with Plan A and save up for a rebuilt ECGS 3rd member and clamshell.

EDIT: Used a bit of the lunchbreak to look on Car-Parts. There are no 4.30 front diffs in my area, but one rear diff 50 miles from me for $1500! All of the other rear diffs farther away are >$1,200. I'll just keep saving for ECGS stuff instead.
