A cheap Harbor Freight 12-ton press works wonders for bushings.@harshjay , thank you for the video showing the procedures. I'm doing the same thing but having trouble to get a right size of adapter to press the old bushing out. What did you use? I'm using the C clamp style of ball joint press loaned from Autozone for this job.
Finding a socket that fits inside the shock and will press out the old bushing is a pain.
Push most of the rubber out with any socket.
Cut a slot or two in the metal sleeve of the bushing with the hacksaw/sawzaw.
Chisel out the metal sleeve.
Clean up the shock.
Find a socket that sits flush on the metal sleeve of the new bushing and press it in with Press.
Impact sockets often have thick, flat edges that work well for pressing in bushings. The socket doesn't have to fit inside the shock hole, the bushing will be flush with the face of the shock body.
