Just for the record, my A/C service was 95$ with over a lb of freezon.

I like doing it myself but time is money in some(all) cases.

Most things I do myself. Note that I did say I did the a/c work itself aside from pulling the charge and putting it back in.

I also take it to the shop for the alignment and tire/wheel balancing as well as mounting tires on good rims. I can get pretty close on alignment or balance by hand - at least enough to drive it to the shop, but it's worth it to me to have them put it on their fancy alignment rack and get things set precisely. Similarly, I can get a tire on and off a rim if necessary, but they can do it in a few minutes without scratching up the rim on their fancy machine.

I agree with you, tires and alignment are done by the pros. Everything else, is done on my driveway.

It's a convenience thing for me vs money. I don't want to make an appt, then either sit there or have to Uber it to work. Uber can only get me to the front gate of my huge secure complex. Then I have to walk two miles to my office or bug someone to give me a ride. I live in a rural area and I don't wanna deal with any of this.

I can evac, then fix the issue at my leisure, then recharge while I do other things. It's too easy and I learn things. Additionally, nobody will care about my junk like I do and it'll be done right.

Here's my writeup in the FAQ from years ago that is still helping other DIYers.
