FREE donor steering wheel (03 and later) ...

I just cleaned up part of my garage and found my OEM steering wheel I replaced instead of refinishing it, so I figured I'd offer it up as a temporary donor wheel for anyone wanting to have their steering wheel refinished. It's free to anyone needing it temporarily (you just pay shipping both ways), but if you want to keep it we'll have to work out terms. I'd really rather this wheel just float around helping random folks who need it.

I am if still available.....just got a '98 and steering wheel is a bit rough just on top. Looking at replacing with Land Cruiser Heaven recover kit....anyone have experience with that?

No experience regarding recovering, but you're welcome to this one as a loaner while yours is refinished, just let me know.

Bump... Crimsonaudio, you still have your loaner wheel? Would it fit a 2002? I've got to get my wheel redone, and would love to borrow yours...

Yes, there is a change and I believe the 02 airbag doesn't fit in the 03, as well as some other minor things.

After searching for a long time, I found a MUD thread (don't ask me where, too early in the morning) where Craft Customs was highly recommended- they take 2-3 weeks to turn around a refurbished wheel. Yes, they do wood. How to Order | Steering Wheels | Dashboards | Car Interior

That said, I remembered, after doing all this, having really good customer service from Red Line when I got some upgraded leather boots and stuff for my MINI Cooper. Their turn around on a wheel is 24-48 hours. I'm not sure if they do wood. I LOVE the leather they use- it's held up really well and I find it's very attractive. Plus customizeable.

98-2002 steering wheels are interchangeable. 2003+ are different. There is a 98-2002 steering wheel thread here:

Reach out to the OP of that thread and see if the wheel is still available for loan.

I used Santoni Steering Wheels out of Lauderdale FL. Mine cost $300 + shipping. Original quote for a simple recover was $225. But the foam under the leather had to be reattached to the steel core and that cost $75. My interior is also the gray, which means the accent panels are a charcoal color that Mr. Santoni couldn't quite match, so we went black. Slightly noticeable, but not bad.
