right where the XM antenna used to be routed through the KRowland weatherguard strip on the front door and up on the wind deflector of the roof rack....... reception is PERFECTO MONDO.. no more static sound as it did before when the SAT radio was wireless to the main unit...........

THANKS FOR THE PICS!!!

1. Do you plug the iopd into the front aux in or is there another option?

2. Do you think this unit would fit into the dash radio slot or is it too big?

1. There is a separate ipod cable for the back, that controls the ipod through the radio controls.

2. It will fit in the dash slot.

Im figuring out how to mount mine now and make it look good with the gaps on the sides.

So far I prefer to use the iPod to control the iPod rather than the controls built in to the Kenwood I have now... I have yet to find a head unit that is as good as the ipod itself. I'll be interested to see how this one works out. I use a RAM mount for my iPod ... it works great, it holds the ipod securely and is built like a Toyota (beefy)

One of my Pioneers does a great job of controlling the Ipod. The other one, a couple years older, does a not so great job of it. I wish that I could buy another of the good ones, but it's too old to find anywhere but used on fleabay.
I might just have to get one of these HD units & try it.

As stated there is another cable that you can plug through the back of the unit.
I dont have it yet.. so I dont know how well it will work with the unit controls.. but the one this I like is that it can be left in the Tuffy and not worry about it...

The Aux is I guess a second option...

I dont see why it wouldnt fit on the dashboard.
All you really would need is the right size DIN and be good to go....

I picked it up for 175.00 from:
JHD 1510

it is a great head unit if you don't have a constant 12v source to keep the presets.
it only requires a switched 12v source.

it is perfect for 24v trucks (really simplified my wiring, all I needed was a converter and a relay)

45w per channel: more than enough for me.
Ipod ready or buy a special cable so that you can control the Ipod from the head unit, (i did this and it is great cause the ipod is charged from the cable and you can hide the ipod so the combo of an "ancient looking" head unit and no ipod detract thieves)

Is the one you got all black or is it gray with black buttons?
Im not sure I like how the gray one looks but the price is better.

finally pics!! nice work.

anyone put it in the stock location?

As best as I can tell the 1510 doesn't do cd's in the unit, only in a remote changer. The 3510 does do cd's in the unit, which is both good and bad.

Question...how does the damn window handle come off. Cant get insert out to uncover a screw..and dont see a clip on back side if it is other kind. Anyone? LOL

Here is what I got if interested through Crutchfield

107DB651 Polk Audio db 651 6-1/2"/6-3/4" 2-way Speakers 69.99
107DB651 Polk Audio db 651 6-1/2"/6-3/4" 2-way Speakers 34.99
158GT640UI Sony CDX-GT640UI CD Receiver 159.99

Buy first set of speakers and get second pair for half price! :) This receiver lets me load music onto a thumb drive and access it by sticking in USB port on front cover on right side....rather than worrying about AUX. I can search and control music content through receiver by doing this. I just hope it does not skip like my cheap JVC. :(

If your music is on a hard drive and through USB it could... if its on a flash memory stick it wont.

X2. I want that receiver really bad now. If you had a 32 or 64 gig SSD, that would be perfect:cool:

huh.....?

huh.....?
What I'm seeing is that one of them comes black and the other comes gray. If you want the cd playing option then you don't get a color choice, you get which ever color the cd player version comes in. I've not yet seen a color option within one model. I could be wrong on that, but it is what I'm seeing so far.

Finally got mine installed. here is the link

FJ62 Install

Absolutely love the new stereo. Looks stock, rocks good sound, compatible with any device I can throw at it.

I just received this information direct from Jensen:

"At this time the JHD1510 and JHD3510 do not have a USB input, but later this year, there will be some new radios released that will have a USB input."

I am trying to find out WHICH radios and WHEN...

The Sony I bought lets you run USB from front panel...I am installing it this weekend and will post pics. I put it with Polk DB651 speakers that are Marine Grade... I am moving it from dash to center console (Tuffy/CCOT) so had to get extension for antennae and some additional wire to splice into harness and then to Sony plugin harness to run under carpet down tranny hump to console. It is close to lid when closed so going to get a dongle for the USB or find one with it already attached so I can plug it in and let USB thumbdrive lay down and then close lid. Reviews say the controlling of your MP3 files on the drive through stereo interface is pretty damn good. I will see this weekend... :D (Color on dial can be changed from blue to green to red)

They have now said that the new radio, with USB, should be available in March/April. It will likely be called the JHD3620.

my bad...forgot it was a thread for a specific radio to use not just whatever is available with USB front insert....sorry. Been reading too many stereo upgrade and install threads the past week while I fought with my own install of speakers and now DIN stereo... :D
