Found the PERFECT aftermarket stereo for the 60

Spook, did you have to do any surgery to get that stereo into the hole? Crutchfield says it won't fit, but my fj62 already has a double din aftermarket installed, so the only reason it wouldn't fit is if it were too deep. It's also been discontinued, but I'll bet they have something similar.

Due to the face pivoting up slightly to open, it's necessary to trim the plastic at the top of the dash opening a bit. Not much, and unless you're REALLY looking for it, you would never know. Other than that, the unit fits perfectly.

Also, if you get it, try to find this model and its corresponding navigation unit. They're last year's models, but this year's models are much lower quality. Starting this year, Clarion has reduced the build quality and specs on alot of their stuff in order to sell to the big corporate store crowds. Pretty much sold themselves out.

I wonder how crutchfield determines fitment. The stereo shown (in the first post, not that giant dvd player:flipoff2:) is a single din and they claim it wont fit. Oh well, we will see.

Just to be honest though, if i had the damn 62 dash i would run a double din navigation unit in a heartbeat. They can do some cool stuff.

I love the hell out of the 7" screen. It's awesome to use the navigation or to just sit and watch a DVD while I'm waiting for something (drive-in movie, places to open up on base, etc.)

so has anyone tried out this jensen heavy duty on any of the curisers especially the 60 or 62 im very intrested but havent found squat on it aside from its use in tractors and big rigs

$240 for a unit that is just a radio? They have got to be kidding.

I picked it up for 175.00 from:
JHD 1510

it is a great head unit if you don't have a constant 12v source to keep the presets.
it only requires a switched 12v source.

it is perfect for 24v trucks (really simplified my wiring, all I needed was a converter and a relay)

45w per channel: more than enough for me.
Ipod ready or buy a special cable so that you can control the Ipod from the head unit, (i did this and it is great cause the ipod is charged from the cable and you can hide the ipod so the combo of an "ancient looking" head unit and no ipod detract thieves)

I'd love to see some pics of this installed, and pics at night to see how the illumination matches up with the rest of the rig

Thanks for the link.. I just score one for $150 (EWWHAY).. It will be going on my tuffy... I'll post pics once I get it and install it....

Yeah, please, post your pix once installed - I wanna put one in a tuffy, too, so I'd like to see what it looks like and what's involved...

And where did you get it for 150 bones ?

Thanks!

Yes but has any one installed it in the dash, i know it needs brakets a trim kit and some wire harness but does any one know if it will fit in the dash, crutchfeild says it wont fit but i m wondering is it cuz of the double din on my 62 or is it cuz the dimensions are too big for it

I love that this is sorts old school looking... I am eager to see one installed in a 60 and to hear how it works...

PLEASE keep us updated.

I bought mine awhile ago. It looks perfect for the 60. I got the one without the cd slot though- Ipod is enough for me. I test fit it and it worked fine, not sure why crutchfield says it wont fit.

Like my "radiator leak" build, i went to install the radio and now the whole dash is torn apart getting cleaned and made new. Ill post pics as i make progress.

Please do...

I like the MP3 CD option as I can leave a CD in there that'll play a good mix for hours... I swap it out once every couple of months. I use the iPod for longer trips...

well being that i dont have a IPOD and my MP3 was stolen several months ago ....ill have to stick with the CD slot unless i can hook my laptop up to it and play all 13G of music i have downloaded...then that would be sweet.....so you say it fit perfectly in your 60 dash........are the din compartments the same on the 62 ,,,,,,,,,,i know that the 60 in single din and the 62 is double but are they the same depth and length though

looks cool but expensive
