I've been looking for a 100 series for a few months and have come across a 2001 LX with 98k miles. Second owner.

Talked with the guy and it has been driven by his wife and garage kept since new.

Has new tires and brakes in the last couple of months. The timing belt has not been done.

They are asking almost $14k.

Going to see it tomorrow afternoon.

Any thoughts on things I should look for specific to that age range and a price to shoot for?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Good trucks usually go for asking price these days. Be willing to offer close to 14k, because someone else will.

These trucks are stout. If it looks good, drives good, it probably is good.

Almost $14k sounds like a deal to me. Slee Offroad has a pretty comprehensive list of things to look for by model year. One that stuck out for me was "wear polarized sunglasses", apparently new paint looks different than old paint when you look at it with polarized sunglasses...

I bought my 2000 with 98k about a month ago for 11.5k. Mine does have a few issues that i found after the fact. But mine did have brand new tires, and the TB done. i would say 12.5-13.3k is where i would be comfortable.

If you haven't already, log on to Lexus owners website and see what the service history shows there as well as Carfax.
