OK, looks like I will probably be attending this event. BUT I NEED DIRECTIONS. Never been on this trail before, therefore, I need to know where to go, where to meet, and how to get there. And just for those that want to tell me to go to HE$%, I have been there and was rejected.

Hwy 80 to Cisco Grove exit. Go to west side of Hwy.and make a left on the frontage steet to campgrounds store. You'll see other trucks parked on the right side parking lot. Go into the store
and pay for your parking, or you can take the Eagle Lake turn off and park at the trail head and hope no one breaks into your truck. Trail head is on the west side of the Hwy. off Eagle Lake on the right side maybe a mile down the road.

Friday is looking good so far. 44 for the low to 71 for the high sunny no clouds
I don't see anything for the water flow. If someone has info. Please post

Dion, so I have to pay to park on the trail? Cause you know I drive my rig to the trail, it aint no TRAILER QUEEN, like other cammo'd rigs. LOL And how can I go to the west side of the road when the road runs east/west.

And a serious thought, what time, and where are we gonna meet?

Micheal... you can pay to park your truck trailer there if need be. There have been reports of vandalism at the trail head. YOu of course will not need that. There is a Chevron at Cisco off ramp for fuel, ice and other last minute stuff.

The river is low, we've been draining fordyce lake for a dam repair.

also, there is a new trail from the campground over the eagle lakes trail head to avoid driving on the Freeway, its short, loose and fun, but also costs $5 at the campground to use.

you folks have fun, Cindy and I will be in Vegas baby, celebrating our daughters 21st birthday (yes, she is going too). If anyone has issues Sunday and needs a place to drop junk or stay, we will be home after noon.

This trail is tough. Make no mistake. Have fun, be safe.

Micheal, just to clarify. The Eagle Lakes exit is the exit to trail head. The next exit up the road is Cisco Grove which is where you park trailer and/or stop for last gas etc. The two exits are close to each other. You would probably just hit Cisco for fuel/food/ice then head back down freeway to Eagle Lakes, after exiting freeway go north to frontage road. Head west on the frontage road a short distance until you see the dirt road on your right, take that and head west on the dirt road for a nice little stroll thru the trees, after awhile you'll come to a staging area with some power poles and a split in the trail, more like a open area where a few trails take off from. Fordyce is the trail to the right of the pole as you enter the open area. The group meets at the Cisco Grove campground where trailers are parked at 9:30am Friday morning. It is a short cruise back to Eagle Lakes exit then to trail head or there is a new trail from Cisco Grove campground for vehicles that are not streetable that gets you to the open area/staging area I spoke about above.

thank you all who responded, I think I can now safely find the right place.

Tony,
Enjoy Vegas, leave some of the casino's money there for other people. I might, just might stop by on sun afternoon, got a couple stars for you.

See all others there, looking forward to new trail!!!

I heard about the trail that runs next to the hwy from the campground, I am looking forward not to have to drive my buggy 65MPH down hwy 80, what a rush though.

In other words, the wifey won't let me play two weekends in a row, and I chose the 10' waterfall.

LOL

More like the weather forecast called for a slight chance of rain. I guess it is rain/snow up in Tahoe and if it rained much this weekend then I'm praying they lift fire restrictions.

I thought you folks were going this last weekend ? Oops...

cannot make next weekend either, traveling to the Hammers for our yearly week.

and thus, cannot help should you encounter issues, but Cindy will be home if you need a place to drop busted trucks or regroup.

expect more weather... the window of opportunity is closing fast.

So how was Vegas? And Happy birthday Cheryl.

it was better than great, but just short of excellent.

Booze and food is no longer cheap...

We ate at Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill... expensive but way good. The Blue Man group was a most excellent show. We rode the roller coaster which goes thru the casino, and went to the top of the Eiffel Tower. Did all the shows on the strip, etc.

Flights were good and easy... came back with some money.

but lets not hijack this thread... its all about Fordyce. (thanks for asking Don...)

Yes Tony,
The Blue Man Group show is a most excellent show, have seen it myself, and to this day still listen to the CD.

BACK TO FOREDYCE!!
remember my main motto.

NO GO WHEN SNOW !!!

Sorry, wish I could make it, I sure need to get away. have some personal items and a big harvest this year on top of a total remodel of the winery.
