Well first off, this is the first time I've logged in for a few months (I find myself starving for spare time lately). So hi to all. Hope everyone's summer has been going well. Now to the topic at hand. Have been thinking again about lining my rockers. My rig is straight, but like every rig that spends significant time off road, it's getting it's fair share of chips and dings along the lower body lines. So, for those who have done it, how long has it been and how's it holding up, both to off road abuse and weather?

Thanks.

I got mine done professionally with "Armorthane" about 6 weeks ago so it is really too soon to tell. I travel gravel roads daily and I have yet to see a ding that penetrated. The Armorthane has a smoother finish than Herculiner, which has little bits of rubber in it. Incidentally, I did my wheel wells with Herculiner (It cost me about $45 per gallon after the NAPA rebate). That is an incredibly messy job because you will be working upside down but that also has held up well to gravel and the two areas (rockers/wheel wells) blend perfectly. It has helped the appearance of my rig more than any other mod so far and I am totally pleased with the result. Cost for rockers was $300 (they knocked off $50 because they failed to get it done when promised). Cost for wheel wells was less than $70.
Durabak is the same stuff as Herculiner; the latter only comes in black and is made on contract for Herculiner. Durabak is DIY and comes in colors. I had them send me some of the color chips. I decided to go with a pro applicator so I don't need the chips (blue, tan, brown, reddish brown). If you are interested, I will stick them in the mail to you (send me a PM). Durabak is a little more money than Herculiner and you would have to pay shipping.

Color choices would be cool. That is the only other concern I have is that my rig is white, and I am undecided if black on white would be too contrasting. There is some other stuff that I have seen at the autobody supply store that comes in white and they can supposedly make any color that you want. I currently can't remember what it is called. I have heard good things about the Durabak though. PM sent.

Hasn't been long enough to tell how it will hold up to the incessant rain here. https://forum.ih8mud.com/60-series-wagons/223340-herculined-62-a.html So far, so good.
There's no place around to wheel, so can't help you on that question. I think White and black look pretty good- do a search and you should find a 60 series with this color scheme.

Really? I know there is a fair share of great Mudders who have done this. No one has anymore input?

I have heard the durabak stuff is pretty good and holds up well. Not too hard so that it cracks but not too soft either. It comes in different colors too I think. No first hand experience, just what I read.

I also have a white 62, I'm not sure the black would look good or not. But your decision.

You could ask Kevin Rowland- he did a really in depth ROTW a while back, I think he had durabak on his truck.
