How are they on snow and ice?

How about BFG Commercial T/A Tractions--anyone using those?
 
Fresh and Packed snow they do awesome.

Ice, the only thing that does really well on ice is studs.

But, siping will help

Agreed, however they suck on slush and water. :cheers:
 
I have them on my 100 and I'll tell ya what with them snipped.....they kicked ass on the snow and ice.......I was shocked, love em, had a hard time getting the rig to slide.....but part of that might be the 100's
 
They come siped(sp?), that is why they have the "traction Tire" rating (the snow flake on the mt. embossed on the wall). Probably no harm done to have them cut again but if you inspect them, the tread is "sipe like" in it's molding..

I believe the literature on them mentions this..that the traction rating is already superior to tires that are M/S rated then siped at purchase..

AGAIN.. I'M NOT SAYING EXTRA SIPING IS NOT GOOD ON THESE TIRES.. all I'm saying is that the siping is built into the tread technology..(thus the Traction Tire Rating)
 
I have them on both my rigs. Long wearing, quiet, handle well and very good traction on snow and everything else. The treads load up some in mud.
 
I have them on 33x9.50 BFG AT

I think they suck in the snow and heavy rain. I work in a little lake effect region near Cleveland with a snow fall avg. of 150"s per year. And they are not good. This could be becuase I DD an Audi with Blizzacks but the 60 has seen a lot of snow this year. When the snow is down the truck must be in 4 wheel or it will spin tires, and forget about stopping straight.

The plus is that they look good!

I'll agree that they are nothing to a dedicated snow tire like a blizzak. But out of any regular AT tire out there they are tops in snow. I don't have a problem in heavy rain either, but I run pizza cutters.

Mud: they get a little slippery - add chains and they are just fine

Rain: work great here in rainy Oregon

Snow/Ice/Winter Driving Conditions: kick arse! have never had to use my chains or been at a loss for traction even when buried to the axles in Cascade Cement

I have the 33x9.5's on my 60 and 32x11.5 on my Tacoma. They are fine in the rain and snow and sand but not so good in a clay based mud. They do seem to be wearing really well and are not too noisy/vibration prone....
 
I have a set of the E load tires which are supposedly not deep snow rated, but I have driven these things for thousands of km in horrific weather and they are absolutely great. I was able to get through areas where almost nothing else was moving. Mind you probably a great deal of the reason was that I have an 80 series. But I have no complaints about the tires.
 
IMHO they are the BEST truck tire made! I have them on my 60 and my Pathfinder (size 31x10.5x15). THe last set on my Pathfinder lasted almost 80,000 miles! For me in NJ they are great in ALL weather conditions.
