I believe that's the same Road & Track article that's linked on our Facebook page on Dec 24. The owner says he lost money when it sold for $198K. Check out our FB page, there's a lot of good LC articles.

The owner/builder should work for the government with his ability to skew numbers. I read the piece and he did things like have a mold made to make the rubber molding for the doors.. He factored the cost of having the mold made into the cost of the build. The cost of premium molding is one thing, factoring in the reusable tooling does not work. He also mentioned doing the same with some motor parts.

That truck sold at about $180K. If you do the real math I am sure he did just fine. I know that there are some very specific parts for that truck but I know what it costs to go through all the basics and repair/replace.

WTB (Want to buy) :

FJ45LV for sale - 10.5K

Seems like a good deal for a survivor that's currently at the Land Cruiser Heritage Museum

Not suprised at that price

I'm in need of a steering relay rod for my FJ60. I can order it online, just thought I would see if the community could "put me on fish" locally.

The relay rod is rebuildable, you just need to get the ends, most come from Austrailia, but check with @beno , he should be able to get them without so much shipping.

My truck died and I'm looking for a 100. Couldn't convince the wife to let me fix the 40 into a daily driver! If yall know of anything I would appreciate a heads up. I'm wanting to do some of these fun rides with yall!
Interested in a 62 for your daily driver? I might be open in trading for your 40...

There is supposed to be a 1991 Land Cruiser at the Grand Strand Pick and Pull in Conway that just came in on the 19th according to their inventory list. I may go down and see if there are any good parts on it if I can get out of work early enough... Let me know if anyone wants me to look for anything on it specifically.

@CharlestonG8R Might be a scam, but seems like it's worth a call - 78 HJ45 / 15K

Yeah, I hit the ONSC guys up about it... As Tim mentioned, the engine is shot and the paint is an abomination. So many wrong parts on it (seats, bed, lights, wheels, upside down bezel...). Figured for that price something had to be wrong. It may very well be a good project truck (new engine swap perhaps?) but for me, inevitably, it would be a point of contention with the wife. Sigh... The search continues...

@CharlestonG8R @Beau Diddly I'm disappointed in you guys for backing away from a challenge. Jeremy - we all know you're not afraid of electrical gremlins, and Tim's got a diesel engine ready to go in that thing! I mean, surely we could knock it out in a weekend, right? Bad paint? Perfect opportunity for you to wrap it in "Bernie 2016" vinyl!

I called the owner and spoke with him about the rig. Very nice guy, has owned several 40's and 60's and knows his stuff. This one is sprung over, has been rewired, full disk brakes. I haven't seen it, but he sent me some pics. I tried to talk my wife in to allowing me to buy another trail rig, but she will not deviate in her endeavor to own a 45...

@ErikinSC , Gunner's new rig perhaps?

Now that's the spirit I like. Heck, I'm all in, even if you put a hammer & sickle on the hood.

Okay, so I called the guy to see what he would take for a rolling chassis... He's firm on his price. Apparently the engine spews radiator fluid from the manifold, so I'm pretty sure it might need a repair. Perhaps. We do have @dbenke and he does have JBWeld... Still thinking on it, just not very hard
