1989 fj-62

My FJ-62 is off the market again. I found a great body shop near my house that loves to do metal restoration, so it is presently there getting new metal in the rear rocker as well as some cosmetic stuff. No bondo at this shop! (I can drop the truck off and get home on my road bike!)

They are also going to fix the issue with the "overspill" issue common with all 62s - -they apparently have some clearcoat that will withstand gas overflow.

They did my wife's 100 recently after she hit a big bear. Its now better than when we bought it! Good guys! (They are presently doing a frame off restoration of a CJ with a new GM crate motor)

WANTED: ARB Rear Bumper for 62

I am looking for an ARB rear bumper for my 62. This is the one without the tire or j-can carrier. Its a discontinued ARB product. I have cross posted this in Mud Wanted. Here is a pic I got from the 60s section:

Hey guys i'm looking for a distributor for my fj62 model 1989, and the right front end cap for the bumper thanks!.

Hey Fabianchin!

I took my bumper off my 89. Eventhough it was in pristine condition, my end caps were rust magnets. (Some chemistry I don't understand makes flexiplastic or rubber "absorb" rust when it contacts metal, same deal with mud flaps)

I would suggest buying a new one from SOR as it may be worth the extra $$$.

Schweet David - looks like you are going to be up for some serious wheelin' soon!!! :grinpimp:

Could be . . . My 89 is in the body shop now getting some new metal, paint, and clear coat. I visited it yesterday and these guys are rocking! It should be ready for the November 8th meeting.

I saw the pictures from Cullowhee and it looks like some of the trails now require you to slide through on the side of your vehicle. Yikes! I am more of an "expedition" kind of guy and will go if allowed to stay on an "expedition" route. Don't mind buffable stuff. I think Adam is in this group too.

The most "damage" a 60 series saw was buffable. It was Mike's red bomber as pictured here...

He got some scrapes, but mostly because he wasn't locked and it was super slippery up there. I cautioned most just to stay close to the wall instead of fighting it and then slamming into it. Mike did that and came out with minor scratches.

And this was as hairy as it got for us. We went through two other spots like this, but we were able to "straddle" the ruts in those cases.

Thanks Turkeypen, ill get a new one in SOR, still if anyone is selling a good distributor fj62 1989.

My landcruiser turned off while I was on the road, no overheating, I need to wait for it to fully cold down and then it turns back on =/ weird.

Had a coil do that to me once upon a time. Was crazy to figure it out. luck

Coil question

Need to get someone who has 62 experience to answer, I could drive all the way back to charleston and check mine and Davids new to us 62 but don't think I will. All past experence has been with 40,s 45,s 55,s and 60,s all had seperate coils from the disssy. So I am guessing that's true for the 62 but not sure. Guy come on somebody on here knows for sure. Doc:)

The ignition coil is seperate on a 62 also. I looked on sor and it looks like the coil is the same for a 60 and a 62. Here is the link.

About half way down you see this one.

Yes

You should be able to find one from a parted out rig cheaper and closer than that to try out at least.

Hope that helps

I am also looking for some tires for my truck. 33 or 34's I have a set of rock crawler 15 x 8 rims to put them on. If anyone has anything let me know. My current tires are worn out and causing some death wable at decent speeds.

I have a Saris bike rack i am going to sell. This came off my wife's Subaru Outback. It has the feet on it to mount to a factory roof rack. Comes with load bars, 3 fork mount bike trays and a flairing. I am asking $250 for it. I will be putting it in iwanna at the end of the week if there is no interest in it.

Edit to add a front end off a 60. I bought this to change my 62 over to round eyes, but have not gotten around to it and have some other projects i would rather do first. I have the core support with headlight buckets and headlights, the grill and headlight doors, front valance and turn signals. It all came off a blue truck and will need a little body work to make it look good. $150 for all and i prefer not to split it up at this time. I will post up some picks of the grill and headlight doors tonight. They are in good shape if i remember correctly and are not blacked out.

1983 FJ60 radiator - will not guarantee condition - all I can say is the rest of the cooling system on the motor I bought left something to be desired.

Cost = a 4 pack of Gordons :grinpimp: - local pickup only
