Friend is giving me his cheapie fog lights that came stock off his jeep. Was wondering how you install them and if they'll work with my 91' FJ80?

Also, I have a factory roof rack, would I be able to install two KC offroad lights on the top of the rack?

Thanks,
Nick

You'd wire them up same as just about any other fog lights. You need power and a switch.

Of course they may fall apart by the time you are done, so you could follow Landtank's advice above.

FWIW The Jeep foglights are only available as assemblies. If the lens, housing, or anything else fails, you have to go buy an entire new lamp.

Not too important if these are free, but something to keep in mind.

Unless you are looking for aesthetic "I have foglights!" value, of which I'd assume the Jeep lights provide little or none, I wouldn't even waste my time.

I severely doubt they will provide decent lighting, or at least enough to have them on the front of my vehicle.

Unless you are looking fo rthe highly sought after " I am a realy cool expedition style wheeler" look I think mounting a fog lamp of any type on your roof rack is probably not an effective thing at all. fog lights are designed to be used low to the ground. The lights commonly used on roof racks would be spot lamps wich are designed to be used at long distances with little scatter of light. Cary should chime in here.

The heep foglights are going to mounted on the front bumper. I might buy some offroad KC lights to mount on top, but I'm guessing thats not that good of an idea on the factory roof rack?

The jeep fog lights were free, I've been driving back and forth through heavy fog from Austin to San Antonio latley and he offered for free so I was just considering...

nyk438 I was just being an a**, so don't mind me. Actually I got caught twice last year out in a snow storm and have been thinking some lighting should be added to help out, just don't have a clue as to what would be a good choice. Of course free would be a good start.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think your Cruiser could catch Jeep-Cuddies from such a transplant and in this day and age its going to take more then just a fluid change and throttle body cleansing to get rid of those. Your Cruiser is too young and pristine to allow any Jeep "mounting" .... shame shame :)
