Hello!
I've bought a couple of 84160-60030 OEM fog light switches for my 92, but they came with no pigtail or any wiring help whatsoever. I'm new to this site, so I dont know how thorough my searching was, but I could really only find this: Early OEM fog light switch Part No.? which doesn't really help me much. I have the switch with these pins:

(Thanks @mot for documenting this nicely) and have no clue where to begin with wiring them. Is there a pre-prepared pigtail that I can buy that will fit in to this switch, and allow me to wire everything else such as ground, power, etc? Do I have to make a pigtail? And once I do find a pigtail, where do I need to connect each wire to? I see I've got a diagram from @gotmud here:

I'm a severe newb to wiring, so I could use as much help as I cane get. Thanks.

There may be a pigtail in the harness already, if it's that old. Root around in the dash for a connector that looks like yours. If you can't find one, you'll have to make one. Not too hard, but you will need lights, connectors, for both ends, and a good bit of wire. Before we get into that, look around and report back.

Interestingly, there's no "front" fog light in the EWD for a '92. There are "rear" fog lights, though:

Looks like it was a UK only option:

So, even if you found the pigtail, it'd lead to the rear, which I assume isn't what you wanted. Looks like you'd have to duplicate the circuit, and run it to the front. Not too bad, though, since the run would be shorter and easier to manage.

I believe that's an eight pin Yazaki 090-ii connector.

I installed the same button to my '94 and I believe I used the male half of "8P090-MT Set" from Eastern Beaver's Sumitomo 090 MT collection.

As for the wiring, I can try to find my notes. I used the switch to control a relay.

Here's the EWD harness repair manual documention:
(Female connector part number)

The column headings are the pin counts. The "11686" part of the part number is the connector ID.
So it appears this connector is designed to fit only with this switch (trivia, but maybe useful someday)

These are the terminals you need:

The "sleeve" notation refers to a butt connector. This also refers to the wire size, in this case 12-10 ga.
These were originally Sumitomo, although you can get acceptable replacements from Yazaki. These guys are the US distributor for Sumitomo:

You need the foglight connectors to find a suitable connector for that end of the harness/pigtail. Approach is similar.

Wow, thanks for the research and response! I'll buy a few of these and see how far I get.

Does that seem right? This isn't necessarily a project I'm going to be doing very soon, I'm quite busy lately. For those who care, I'm wiring up one switch to a set of Hella 500 driving lights, and the other switch to some Rigid flush mount amber LED floodlight pods. Both switches will go through relays before reaching the lights (of course). I'll update this whenever I have more info.

Uh, pretty sure you need the FEMALE one, unless I missed something. The nomenclature can be a bit confusing, since the FEMALE terminals' housing plugs into the MALE terminals' housing, which makes the name seem backwards.

I'll just buy both. They're really cheap and he won't accept any orders under $10, so that works out I suppose.

Did a little searching on autotrader.co.uk and found some 80s wit rear fog lights.

This one was paired with some crazy ass fog light switch next to the headlight washer switch and below an interesting second fuel tank switch...

This one also had the factory cooler box in the center console, as well as heated seats which I'm looking to put into my 80 with those switches, or at least relabeled rear defrost switches. (And look at that terribly wrapped trim!)

Here's another 80 with a rear fog light, it looks a little nicer so maybe this one is actually the stock one? It also had a normal looking Toyota fog light switch

I also found an FJ60 with rear flog lights flush with the bumper (not sure if stock or not, but it's kinda neat)

Ordered 2 of each male & female connectors. They're coming from Japan, so I don't know how long it'll take to be here. What GA wire should I get? Connectors accept 22 - 16 ga, but I don't know how many amps I'll need to support...

You'll want to power your lights using a relay, so you don't need fat cable to the switch. I'd use 18ga or narrower if you can find it. Around here, it's hard to find stranded wire smaller than 18ga.

Got it. I already have some confusing cluster of wiring from the previous owner who had some independent guy install fog lights for him. It has two relays, one for each set of lights he was powering, and two ugly aftermarket switches. The confusing thing is that you can only turn the fog lights on if the parking lights or head lights are on, meaning there's some kind of splice somewhere.... there are also tiny resistors soldered on to the switches, and I don't really understand what that's for. So, I'm going to get rid of all that crap, order new relays and wiring and connectors. I would like to retain the ability to only be able to activate the lights if the parking lights or head lights are on, so I'll re-do that as well. I wish I was more educated on wiring and electrical crap o_O I guess that's why I'm here...

Slee sells oe light switch with pig tail

FYI: The correct connector is the FEMALE 8P090-MT.
Is this a good guide to follow with wiring up the lights?

Of course, the pin-outs on his switch (normal aftermarket aux light switch) are different than the 4 pin-outs on the JDM FJ80 fog light switch, so how would I need to change this?
Again, I apologize for my severe lack of wiring knowledge, and thank you very much to anyone who has enough patience to teach me all of this like I'm a baby :flush:

Alright it's been nearly 4 months and I'm back on this with more knowledge but I have a few questions. Here is how I'm wiring.
wiring eh.webp

So the one question I really have, is that if I want the switches to be powered when the headlights are turned on, what do I splice the switch's power wire to? The low beam socket's positive? If I do that, do I need to change out the headlight relays? I don't think so, as the switch doesn't pull much of anything. It just powers a relay.
