Hi,

As part of my frame off restoration I am starting to assemble the clutch again. I have a new pressure plate, disc and bearing. My problem is, that I have some marks on both my pressure plate and my flywheel. What is your opinion on the flywheel marks? I can barely feel them, but there is some discoloration. The marks on the pressure plate are much more severe and almost looks like metal was squeezed into the surface. The old clutch and flywheel has only 60000 km on the clock. I will of course discard the pressure plate and the disc and put new ones in but I fear that a costly machining job lies ahead of me in terms of the flywheel. Does anyone have experience? I have never disassembled a clutch before and dont know if all this is normal.

Pic 1 and 2 are the pressure plate.
Pic 3 and 4 are the flywheel.
Pic 5 is the disc

I tried to buff off the marks on the flywheel with some scotchbrite - this is why you see some tiny abrasive marks.

You should be able to get it resurfaced, it should not cost to much, the rest is junk. I would check input shaft pilot and bearing, looks like it was chattering. Good luck

Those are kind of normal heat marks on the flywheel and pressure plate that will go away when you resurface the flywheel and buy a new pressure plate.
