Nice work. So what's the plan? Weld the sliders on, disassemble, and then paint everything to match the frame?
Yes.
Been a little back and forth on whether to paint or powder coat. The powder coat would be a lot easier, but they will eventually get scratched and scuffed, so I’ll probably just paint them so that it’s easier to apply some touch up when necessary.

Question for the frame-mounted slider crowd -

Is there a minimum distance between the slider and rockers needed to prevent contact during body flex?

I’ll just pull out the handy tape measure Bob M sent me and see here….
Huh. Lookit there. What does that come out to be? Can’t tell.

Let me try something… oh, Okay, here we go.
Yeah… yep, 3/8”.

Makes me wish I had a Hyster forklift that I could start lifting tires with.

I’d wager more room than that for frame flex, but no real world proof. It was amazing how much the Old Dodge would twist up but much more wheelbase.
Pretty sure I gave my White Knuckle about 1”, but they were step sliders. If you’ve burned them in that’s where you’re at, but might go 1/2-5/8” -
Everything is just tacked right now and can be easily broke loose for changes. I liked the look of the tighter clearance, but thought I’d get some input before making anything permanent.

I'm with @scrapdaddy here and think they look great..
Once you start approaching the $5,000 magic time and money budget it's going to be hard to take this rig on the Rubicon trail or any trail where body damage is guaranteed...
After replacing several body panels on mine I'm less inclined to risk it now and keep it on the bunny trails.

I know! ‘Sliders’, right? They’re really a cosmetic accessory more than anything. Maybe more useful in this incarnation as a step. Not like there’s much you’re in danger of slamming your rockers down on in the Dutch Bros drive thru.

Hey buddy ol' pal

Here's some real info for ya, take it however ya want.

My sliders are bolted on same as yours will be, this pic is the only damage in 20 some odd years of wheeling this particular rig
You know how I wheel and where I go, and I promise I haven't babied this, some of the drops these sliders have taken rattled fillings in my teeth.
The best way I could show you was this pic, that's the damage, and that's a paint stirring stick.

Hey ol’ pal!
So you’re saying that you have a fairly tight clearance on your bolt-on sliders? This must be on your Tacoma?

Well, it’s already been pulled off and cut back apart. My plan is to just double the gap to 3/4”. If they move that much they will be removed and I’ll go back to the drawing board.

Oh I almost forgot,,,, and lets get all engineering geek cause i know you like that. Since your mounting to a linear plane, the more mounting points you have the less deflection you will get. I have 4 points in a 5.5ft length. With two points only a foot apart under the front section because the moment of drop force will occur behind the front tire.
