Derrick,

Is the drive shaft engaging enough, even with the spacer?

In addition to not having the DS engage enough, my weekend wheeling trip brought an issue to light. At speed in the whoop-dee-doos upon compression, the top of the upper link tower was coming into contact with the motor mount right above it. So, when I got home, I dropped all the links, adjusted them all the way in (this pulled the axle in about 3/4"), hit them with LocTite and reinstalled. Ran up the hill to "my testing" location and hit bumps at speed with no clanking, problem solved! I also measured my DS flange to flange and it is now 32.25", only .25" longer than it was before I started this project. I feel much more comfortable with this length now.

eventually though, IMO, you are going to have to have that driveshaft redone to make it right.....

The spacer I used was a 3/4" spacer and I do not have any driveline vibes so I don't feel the need to re-tube anytime soon. We'll see how that goes.

After wheeling the rig this weekend the heims must have broke in a little cuz when I tested it out this afternoon after adjusting the links, I was actually able to get the spring to unseat when flexing it.

looks great man just guessing from the last pic
but the shocks look like they might be holding you back a little in the front. like they might be a little short on extension

but i could be wrong either way its clearly working better

The shocks are definitely the limiting factor. They are ony 12" of travel. A 14" shock would make a big difference.

Make sure you keep those heims lubed! I use motorcycle chain lube

TriFlow.

Only lubricant that immediately dries, yet still keeps them quiet, but, personally, I wouldn't use until they complain.

I emailed Dan at RS and asked if these heims need to be lubed as they are teflon lined. He said they don't need it. Are you guys saying to lube them anyway?

Every link or UCA I've ran stipulated the same, that they need no lubrication, but they've all eventually squeaked.

"Race car parts make race car noises" was the typical reply to others queries regarding the squeaks, but I don't care much for sounding like the Clampett's, nor enjoy hearing, so I threw caution to the wind and sprayed with Tri-Flow to quieten them down.

TriFlow is typically found at high end mountain, or road race bike shops . I used on a dune quad, since it dries rapidly and leaves no residue, the sand wouldn't stink to the chain, nor the control arm joints ( which were also noisy ), and carry in the FJC, so that I can immediately quieten the complaining when necessary and during routine service intervals.

In your case, wait until they squeak, in keeping with RuffStuff's recommendation, and know that when they do, there's a product that'll shut them up.

Ain't broke, don't fix it, methodology.

Thanks Chris! Having ridden both mountain and road bikes for the last dozen years, I am very familiar with Tri-flow and have some on the shelf. Since I am in SoCal with a dry climate, the Tri-flow makes the most sense, plus it's not a "dirt magnet". If it doesn't hurt, then it sounds like there is no reason to wait for squeaks.

Got a chance to go wheeling last weekend about 90 miles from my house. I love the way the rig handles on the road. It's the best it's felt since it was on 33s and a 2.5" lift, feels very stable with no wandering. On the trail on the other hand, it's a different story. It just feels a wee bit too tippy, probably due to the combo of FOR springs and my temporary ProComp shocks. Saving for some Fox or Radflos. I am happy with the improved flex though. Here are some pics:

Are you prejudiced against FJCs?

Hahaha. Surely know a few of them, but would be known as 銀チタン to any.

Any of y'all headed out this weekend?

Not at all, that's why I'm hanging out with them ;)

Hahahaha. They've all been made aware of your true sentiments.

Derrick,
Glenn at Radflo's customer service is unparalleled.

I had an issue couple years back on the FJC install and emailed him late on a Saturday night.

Few minutes later, he called me as he stepped out of his booth at SEMA to address, and that's not even the half of it.

Was having issues with another major shock company, prior to the above evebt, that necessitated their return to SoCal, but didn't have any to run for a brief period while waiting on the long travel components. Glenn read on FJCF and messaged saying he'd loan me set if I'd cover shipping.

I was floored, so much so, I ordered the LT shocks from him and not the monarchy of trophy trucks.

For what it's worth and apologies for the derailment. You can jack mine up in retaliation or I'll delete, at your request.

Ran Corral Canyon with a local 4x4club. Would love to do JV as it's my fav place to wheel but can't get out again until TDS. Are you going again this year?

Thats a mean machine...

Thanks! It just looks mean, ;)

Chris,
I welcome the feedback on the Radflo's. A fellow mudder here has them and gives the same feedback. Probably the direction I am heading.

I don't think I'll go again. It was fun, but I want to do the desert rendezvous in march. One or the other for me. I have never been to corral canyon but I have heard that its fun.

It's great for a quick day trip and has some challenging obstacles.

Roll Bar Padding

I bought some pad a few months back and finally had some time today to wrap it on my roll cage. I figured a little pad is better than nothing, especially after Dafun posred that he cracked his noggin when he rolled his rig on an icey road. Also, I am going from a soft top to an aluminum top so I figured now was the time to get this done. I ran out of tape so I will be doing the pillars later. It took an entire 10 pack of electrical tape just to do the top. Here are the pics:

What padding did you use? I have been meaning to do this to my truck...
