floor shift vs column

What year was the switch made? I am wondering because $OR differentiates between the carpet kit for 58-72 vs 73-78. The only difference I can think of is the floor shift.

one has a indenttation in floor for gas tank the other does not thats the differant

Early 73 has toolbox, late does not. hth John

Tunnel cover is taller starting the 73 model. The seat mounts also changed the same time with the buckets seats. The high low head light switch moved off the floor to the turn signal switch with the 73 too. The 73 had different holes than later year for floor shifters. 72 had some 40s imported with floor shifters plus this is supposed to have been an option on early years also.

Not sure if this is true or not John. My Feb 73 has the bucket seats and no tool box. I think this started 9/72 or 10/72 at the beginning of the 73 run. Never heard this was a mid year change. I may be wrong, won't be the fist time.

That would make sense John, being 9/72 or 10/72 for the end of the early carpet kits. end of the toolbox. thank's for clearing this up. By the way---HI
