Issue: 1969 non funtioning Flasher
If anyone has ever tried to track down anything electrical under the dash before let me start out by saying its no fun. I took the FJ40 out for a run last week and went to use my flashers (random fun with my buttons) and noticed they went out after only a few seconds. I am easily annoyed by non funtioning items and usually have to get them working.
I bought a new flasher relay unit (which I had to convert since 1969 relays are no longer availible.) then when that didnt work I tested the switch (which tested good). still nothing.......now extremely frustrated I then went to the manual and found the electrical diagram. Lo and behold there is a small (piss me off sized) fuse under the dash. So back out to the rig, took out the heater, most of the hoses and an hour later upside down in my rig I got the fuse out.
Once I replaced the fuse I had no problems at all and the flashers work great. So if you didnt know or even if you did, let me tell you the fuse under the dash is a #%$% to find.
