Flares came off two weeks ago from trail damage. So, I removed them all, welded the holes, and bed coated the fender surround. 8 hours total time.

You got a flareless side shot for comparison?

How did you weld the holes?

X2 on that. Wondering what the best way to do the welding is. Did you insert some type of backer through the holes?

I used a "running tack". I'd hit the body panel, pull the arc in line with the metal as I deposited the bead, and let off to cool. I ran no more than 1/4" of weld at a time. No backing metal like copper, I just made sure to build the weld in the same plane as the body panel rather than build it outwards.
I used a hobart w/gas, .30 wire, and a very low current (can't remember exactly). I was very careful with the welding.

Cool man! It's almost as if I don't even recognize your cruiser anymore... :)

Looks good hombre! What kind of liner did you go with?

Looks good. I just bought a 97 dark green and was considering doing this to it. I think my mind is made up now!

Also, what lift and size tires are you running?

I like the duplicolor truck bed coating. I've used it on a ton of projects and have gotten very good, consistent results.

I should probably update my sig, OME mediums with KYB shocks. 315/75/16 Duratracs.

I'm thinking about it as well, my flairs are loose after GSMTR, so it's only a matter of time for me... debating bondo for the holes or some other filler.
