Hi all,

Took on the task of helping out somone car troubles by repairing the steel fuel line for there fuel system. I had installed the flairing kit on the line set up what I think was the amount of height the line would stick up above the hole = to the thinkness of the flairing button? and then put the button pin in the hole. Put the flairing press over the button and tightned away. The problem I am having is while it looks like it is attemping to flair it is not. Its pressing the line though the multi piece flairing tool. Question is how hard should I clamp both have over the line? I was afriad that perhaps the flairing clamp was to tight not allowing the flairing tool to press though it.

How much force is needed to tighen the flairing u shaped press on the button? I wrenched the heck out of it the other night and the end of the line did not look like the old piece that was removed. Another idea would be to put a piece of high pressure rubber line rated to 55psi on the steel line and push it on both ends hard enough to put two clamps on it. What best?
