Who's up for some wheeling in Colorado? FJSummit 2012 National Meet

We were planning to go in Aug. but it would be great to go to an event with some organized trail runs.

What day would you leave to head up there? Do you have a tow rig? This looks like a lot of fun, but the only way I could get my 40 up there would be to flat tow it which would make for a reaaall long trip.

It takes 2 days to get up there. I would leave on the 14th and get there on the 15th. Do some chill wheeling 16 - 17th, do the event and leave on the 21st to head back.

I two wheel up there...

Just mapped it out. Austin - Clovis, NM 10:52. Clovis - Ouray 8:32.

are you driving the 80 or towing the 40?

Driving the 80.

Since I am one of the event directors I will be there. This will be my 5th time and I gotta say there is almost no place nicer to be in July.

The wife and I will head out either the Friday or Saturday before and make it to Santa Fe to enjoy a couple of nights there before heading on into Ouray on Monday. There is a big crew that convoys out of Dallas, they will camp Sunday in the Raton area then into Ouray on Monday.

The event itself is awesome with one of the best raffles you will ever experience including multiple sets of tires, bumpers, sliders, and the grand prize of a TRD FJ Supercharger.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I just checked and we went over 200 registered vehicles this weekend. We will look at cutting off registration at about 225 vehicles, in the end we will end up with about 250 vehicles and 600 people including vendors.

Just made hotel reservations. We decided to go to Santa Fe for a day on our way through.

I'll try to remember where we stayed, but we just cruised the old downtown area and checked out all the little shops. Also, make sure to go to the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture.

Only been to Santa Fe once and it was years ago, probably mid 90s.
We stayed in a B&B within walking distance of downtown.
It was very nice...just wish I could recall the B&B.

Couple years ago we stayed at the Garretts Desert Inn, inexpensive and just across the street from the main old town area. This year we are staying at the hotel St. Francis on the way up. Hit up Coyote Cafe rooftop cantina (the main restaurant is pretty shish) for dinner and Pasqual's for breakfast, you won't regret it. Lemme know when y'all make a plan so we can try and meet up.
