Hello you guys,,,,,,,,,,I am restoring the stock wheels on my 1962 fj40. I can see they are black and original and 50 years old and hard to tell if they were GLOSSY BLACK when new. I see in old original pictures in the brochures they appear to be a bit glossy. Any help from any you folks would be appreciated. What type BLACK do I use to restore these with? Glossy, Semi or Flat? Does anyone know what Factory used back then? Thanks, FJFJFJ

I personally would got glossy or a semi gloss. I think a satin finish would be to dull. I would use the same paint I use on the frame.

looks to be more semi gloss than full gloss IMO

Thanks Living in the past and Johnny C. I really like the pics you posted. Very cool. Very helpful. I will go semi gloss black and see how we do. fjfjfj

Your welcome. I just wish Johnny would quit posting pictures of early FJ40 soft tops. Everytime I think that's one I can do without he posts another picture.:bang: Currently down to needing seat covers, canvas top and lenses for the front turn signals. Few things on the one pictured that were 61 only.
