anything:) from vac leak to holed piston. need more info. under what conditions does it miss? what has been done recently ( repairs, maint, wheelin )? trouble codes?

Yeah that's not good man. I just went through this at 200k miles. I blew a head gasket. It's pretty common. Take your cruiser to get your computer read if you check engine light is on. If it really is a misfire then it's most likely a leaky head gasket. I'm warning you it's not a cheap fix. Do some research about blown head gaskets and what not. I know there are a few good threads on 'mud about this. Try to find them.

He fixed his misfire, see post above.

And blown head gaskets are not as common with a 3FE engine. :D

You can read codes with a paper clip.
FJ80's do not have common head gasket issues.

WELCOME all you noobies:flipoff2:

Dude, FJ80s do not have head gasket issues. However, FZJ80s do. Learn the difference.

alright. then what is the difference?

FJ80 = 3FE etc
FJZ80 = 1fzfe

the FJZ has head gasket issues due to various issues (though this varies by member hehe) Best bet is to keep cooling system in tip top shape and make sure EGR is clear.

ok good to know. thanks buddy.
ok so in your opinion the 3fe is a better motor?....well in terms of cooling.

Well the 3FE's go just as long as a 1FZ in not longer depending on maintenance plus they don't have to worry about PHH's and head gaskets as much as we do but they lack the power of the 1FZ have to love trade offs

Cooling systems are probably just as good in each its just some weird design flaws that no one seems to know that causes the HG to go on a 1FZ whether its really high mileage or mid to low mileage (90k-130k)

ok interesting. from what i have read a 1fz is very reliable until around 200k. which is usually a blown head gasket. after that they say you are good for a another couple hundred miles.

am i off?

I guess you mean a another 100k haha.
Well problem is people have HG problems from 120k to 250k with different degrees of previous maintenance so you never know.. just keep your 1FZ cooling and EGR system in good shape and protect the wiring harness that runs right next to the EGR pipe and hope for the best haha. Anyways I don't want us to hijack the original thread so I'll stop there
