Dear CSC,

I have recently relocated from FLG to S. TUC and I am looking for a mechanic for my 1996 LX450 (260k miles). I looked in the "Important Threads" but one place I called was out of business and Douglas Automotive is on the north edge of town. Does anyone know of a good FJ80 mechanic in the south edge of town?

Thanks,
Al

Pull up a search. Alvin (Madbagins) highly recommended a shop on Kliendale. I want to say Calypso Automotive?

Calypso installed OME suspension on my 99 100. Rear shock fell off the first time I took it to Reddington. Not a bad trail repair but really? They called me during the install and said I was missing parts and later called back to say they found them. Shop was a cluttered mess. Wasn't impressed and I let them know. To their credit, they tried to make it right but I didn't go back to them. Been going to Jim at Quantum mechanics on Pima. Jim isn't cheap but is detail oriented and runs a clean, organized shop. He has a couple 40s. Dan's Toy Shop also does good work although, for some reason, they wouldn't work on the 2F on my old 60. Too bad Bill Lee moved to NM.

Bill Lee at Bill's Toy Shop in Silver City, NM. Call his shop at 575-534-3400 and discuss with him. Terry

I highly recommend Jim at Quantum Mechanics on Pima. He's worked on 80's and I had him go through mine after I rebuilt the engine, just to make sure everything was ok. 520-792-9293 5265 E. Pima.

FWIW Jim Mabry at Quantum just fixed my 80 after Desert Toyota bilked-I-mean-billed me for NOT fixing it. Good dude. You don't have to go all the way to NM....

What kind of work are you needing done?

I'll check with jim. I drive by that place all the time to and from the GF house. He has a 40 with no motor parked there. Some how I spaced Jims shop out

Cool 60 in there too

Hi, not to thread jack here, but I thought it would be relevant. Im looking for someone to replace or rebuild a carb on an FJ60 2F in Tucson. I'm not there and would like to find a trusted mechanic to get the work done before I arrive. I'm flying blind here and hoping the utter amazingness of this forum shines through for me. Any of you Tucson guys have a recommendation, suggestions, feel like lending a hand? I'll bring live lobster from Maine...

I couldn't answer any better than 1972FJ55: "I highly recommend Jim at Quantum Mechanics on Pima. He's worked on 80's and I had him go through mine after I rebuilt the engine, just to make sure everything was ok. 520-792-9293 5265 E. Pima." Ditto.

Thanks for confirming. Spoke with Jim this AM, hopefully he can help me out. Will post a result next week.

Any luck with Jim at Quantum? Looks like my transmission just took a crap...to what extent, I have no idea.

I've had no problems working with Jim at Quantum mechanics.

Jim is a good guy. Very thorough and easy to talk to about specifics. He even was able to keep up with emails, etc. He's not cheap, but you get what you pay for.
