If, that's IF, I can find 2 factory locked FJ80 REAR third members will they fit my fj60 front and rear as simple bolt ins, or do I have to modify anything.

RDO

IIRC you need a custom inner axle..

But it is essentially a bolt in mod..

E locker in Rear diff is cruiser sized

Front diff is mini sized..

I just remembered the other issue.

Thanks Beaufort.

The rear Diff in your 60 is a SF axle, those lockers are designed for a full float application.

SO, if you got a FF rear 60 axle, then you would be fine. But without it, I doubt there is any way to get a C clip in the third..

front axle I picked up a cable lockered front short side axle shaft. i searche don ebay for amonth until one popped up. you will need to grind out a portin of the housing inorder to get the 3rd in the housing. took 5 minutes with a grinder not a bit deal you will need to get 2 longer studs for the front housing wher ehte locker motor braket part of the third is. you can use the fjzj80 ones they swap over.

the rear axle I found it easie rto swap the whole fxj80 rear axle that way I got ff, and rdb. bes tpart of the mod was rear disk brakes. but if you want to keep the stock 60 width you will need a fullfloater rar axle. SOR sometimes sells them or surf eBay for a month and one will prolly turn up. some of the other parts venders get them as well.

i bought new wiring harnesses but getting them wired is a nother ball of wax.

Is the rear axle from a fj80 the same width as an fj60. Do you have to modify the spring perches or anything else for the fj80 axle swap to a fj60?

80 axle is wider than a 60 axle. You could run spacers in the front of a 60 to get close to the 80 width tho..

80 axles are coil sprung. You have a ton of bracket cutting to do before it will bolt up to a leaf sprung truck.

I would get a FJ60 FF from SOR for ~ $300 and use the 80 series chunk in it.

I put that unit in the front of my 40, I ended up getting a long spline 30 spline for the long side from Bobby Long. If I went your route I would consider going with HD stuff throughout the front (30 spline throughout). If you break it, it could be a bear to get apart. So far I have been pretty happy with mine (cable actuated).

Def don't pull the axle out if the diff isn't locked. Kinda a pain to get the diff out if you do.
