FJ80 Carpet

HI Guys,

My cruiser has a nasty barf smell, ive had 3 pro carpet shampoos and the smell is still there. So, i am thinking of just replacing the entire carpets - any idea where i can get the carpet - and cost?

Or, is there a way to kill that smell?

I'd try SOR (Specter Off Road) - it's not going to be cheap to replace though. Have you tried spraying the crap out of it with an odor neutralizer like Fabreeze? That got the dog vomit smell out of mine....

I test drove 2 cruisers with that problem. One was like that from the moment I got in, the other was fine until I turned on the heat. ...You may want to check out your ventilation system too.

Maybe you've already tried, but I've read posts on another forum vouching for Simple Solution Stain and Odor Remover. You can purchase it at PetCo:

Yeah, try an enzymatic product first. I've used "Nature's Miracle" with good results. Try to pinpoint the area and then splash this stuff on liberally.

Gotta agree with Big and hoser. The enzyme stuff works great if it's barf, dog pee, etc. It works at the acidic level to neutralize all that stuff. Sister-in-law bought a fixer upper house several years ago. All the carpet was just rampant with dog pee. We even found fecus in the fireplace. Ripped all the carpet, padding and carpet strips out and applied about two gallons of this stuff directly to the concrete slab. Smells gone. As I recall though, the stuff wasn't cheap at about $60 per gallon, but well worth it. It was recommended to me by one of my clients at the time that owned a pet store. He knew what he was talking about.

what color is your carpet? I have the complete (color brown) carpet front to back out of a 40th aniversary '97 FZJ80 in great condition and looking for a good home

I could sure use that carpet. The PO left a bad battery in the back of my 96 and there's a nice white acid burn through the mat and carpet. If you say it's in good shape, you have a taker here for the back piece. Would you be willing to part with just the back piece? I guess I should give lshobie first dibs since he started the post...
